Both my husband and I were about 8 pound babies, so I was expecting Addison to be about that. At 35 weeks they said she weighed 7lbs 6oz. I freaked out thinking I was going to have a 12 pound baby! She was born 9lbs. 3oz. Still, bigger than average but not terrible. She was born by c-section so I didn't have to push her out, thank God! =) Oh, I had an u/s two days before she was born and they estimated her weight to be 8lbs. 12 oz. The average baby is around 5 lbs at 35 weeks. Your baby sounds like he is right where he should be. If the u/s tech is correct, he'll probably be in the 7-8 pound range at birth. Good luck!

My reason for asking this is because my mother-in-law had my husband 2 weeks early and he was 9 pounds! She said that they cut her from the front to the back and her uterus FELL OUT! She had stitches inside and out! They even had to stitch her vag closed! Just thinking about it makes me want to cross my legs LOL. Anita
I have no idea what my little Belle will weigh. At 28 weeks they said she was nearly 3lbs. I was told yesterday by a friend that they think she's going to be 12lbs! I told her to not talk dirty.
I am huge and have 35 days left until I'm 40 weeks. I'm afraid to see how big I'm going to get!
I think my guy was a little closer to 6 pounds around 35-36 weeks. My midwife would just feel my belly and the baby and always give me an estimation. At my last appt. She said he would probably be right around 8 1/2 pounds. He was born at 38 weeks and was 8lbs 4oz. I don't even know how she could guess that!! I guess she has been doing this for a long time!! lol. I only had 2 u/s that entire pregnancy..one at 8weeks and a 3d/4d at 29 1/2 weeks. I was never told the weight at the last one, because it wasn't for medical purposes. You sound right on track! =)
They can be WAAAY off.......my daughter had an ultrasound days before her induction, and they told her the baby was 8-9 lbs, so they induced. My grandaughter was only 6 lbs 13 oz. I think they use the averages most of the time.
My best friend gave birth at 35 1/2 weeks - - baby weighed 5 lbs 12 oz at birth, went home at 5 lbs 3 oz (lost 10% of birth wt). On her actual 'due date' she weighed over 6.5 pounds.
Yes, Gina is right they can be off a lb either way.
My guy weighed about 4 in a half pounds at 35/36 weeks. Now at the time my doctor and tech told me that was normal and he would be an averaged size baby. I even had an U/S a couple days before I delivered and was told he was average sized and would only be about 7 in a half pounds at birth. WELL I delivered only days later and he was 9 POUNDS 4 OUNCES. They were WAY off. My best friend is an U/S tech and she said they can be off by an entire pound! Well they were more than that with me...almost two pounds off. We were all shocked because I am a tiny girl and my entire pregnancy they were all telling me he would be a small or averaged sized baby.
I think in my case, he got bigger the last couple weeks of my pregnancy and since I went 5 days overdue...that just gave him more time to grow. So dont ever go by what the U/S's tell you. Their hardly ever right on....I think you have to look at your tummy. I was all belly, but my belly stuck out FAR. My angel was long too, 22 inches so he was all bawled up in me!
hi i had my scan at 33 weeks and i was told me little guy is 5lbs i was told by my doctor its was a good size for him to be so i think 5lbs 10oz at 35 weeks is good hes not to big and not to small
good luck
From what I have read, 5 1/4 pounds is average...My doctor NEVER will tell me a number because he says it is all a good guess but that my guy is measuring 'right on' or he's 'right where he should be'. I have an appointment Tuesday (35w2d) and I am going to try to get him to give me SOMETHING this time! I'm so jealous so many other people get a number ;)
