i was
pre prego - 132 lbs
at labor - 240 lbs (i had twins)
right after labor - 200 lbs
now - 140 lbs (4 1/2 months later)
the only real body difference (besides my pouchy belly i'm still working on getting rid of....is my hips are slightly bigger.
I came home from the hospital only 3 pounds lighter than the day I went into labor, I was very swollen.
Everyday I lost more weight after about 3 weeks I went down about 20 pounds. Once my son was 6 months or so I started doing weight watchers and going for walks, I lost about 30 pounds by the time he was 10 months ( I was breastfeeding so that helped).
Over the next few months I lost about 10 more pounds.
Exercise during pregnancy is geared more toward keeping you flexible and getting you prepared for childbirth, rather than losing weight. Breastfeeding will help you lose weight a lot faster than exercising while pregnant or post-partum.
I gained 50 lbs with my first pregnancy (YIKES). I dropped about 20 lbs after giving birth. But got pregnant again and still carrying 50 extra lbs. I'm working my butt off. Believe me, it is worth it to watch your weight gain and to exercise once you get the OK after you give birth. I didn't do that. I was depressed and made up a lot of excuses.
Anyway, don't get obsessed over weight either. Just keep your weight gain under control, don't "eat for two" but eat normal with a couple extra snacks because you do need 500 extra calories while pregnant, and do moderate exercise. You should be fine!
Here's what I was...
Pre-prego with #1: 152
Birth: 180
1 Week later (no exercise): 160
At 6 months (no exercise): 154
Pre-prego with #2: 155
Birth: 184
1 Week later (no exercise): 164
(With this one I did step on the scale at 3 days after and the scale said 179!!! I was scared to say the least.)
I did nurse exclusivley for the 1st 6 months and will do this time as well. That will really help the weight come off. The biggest thing is you don't get the same shape body back even if you get back to the weight or less, things will be different.
