What on earth is going on? Please help.

Here is my situation.  I'm pregnant and started spotting.  Really lightly for a day.  Went to the doc and had an u/s done.  Gestational sac measured 5w3d, and also showed a minor subchorianic hemorrhage. I should have measured 6w3d from my LMP.  Doc ran some tests, to check my HCG levels and progesterone levels.  2 days later resulted with good HCG levels, but really low progesterone.  It was a 6.7 and should have been 15+.  A week following my first u/s I went in for another, and the gestational sac only measured 5w4d with no more signs of a hemorrhage.  The u/s tech informed me that this meant I was miscarrying due to there being no growth in a week.  I had my HCG levels drawn again to confirm the miscarriage.  The results came in and they are still doubling.  The doc told me that this was good, and meant that I might not be miscarrying after all even though there had been no growth in the gestational sac and yolk sac in a week.  Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?  I feel like my doc is stringing me along and if I find myself hoping, its just going to be a bigger let down.  How can my pregnancy still be viable if my baby isn't growing?  Please help.

thats good they have you on supplements, at this point youll just have to wait and see. the fact is, they do not know if you are having a miscarriage or not yet. dont give up just yet, you should know for sure in a future scan.

They started me on progesterone supplements immediately once the results came in, and the ultrasound tech assured me it wasn't a blighted ovum, or a molar pregnancy.  I've just never heard of a doctor saying that zero growth doesn't mean a miscarriage?

In a week there was only one day of growth in the baby? It's possible you could be suffering from a blighted ovum. With a blighted ovum, often a sac and in some cases a yolk sac will form, but the embryo will not. In these cases, the hCG can also continue to increase which leads some women to believe the pregnancy is still viable. Wait a week or two and see if you bleed any more, or go back in for another ultrasound. By then if the pregnancy is viable you should be able to see definite growth.

Well, they can always mess up on "conception"...... Definatly dont get all hopeless about this.... Sometimes all you can do is wait. Multiple ultrasounds wont do anything either..... Just wait to have another ultrasound in two wks. Pregnancy is ALWAYS a waiting game.
