What to expect at a 5 week ultrasound?

Hi ladies, I have my first ultrasound on Thursday and was wondering what to expect at 5 weeks along? My OB wanted me to come in for an u/s once my HCG reached 3000 and today they were up to 4273 at 4w4d. I know every woman is different but I was wondering what you think we will see? A fetal pole, a sac, a lil bean, a heartbeat? I am so very nervous as this is our third pregnancy and the other two sadly ended in m/c at 11 and 5 weeks. I never got a chance to have an u/s with the other two but now they want me to come in sooner/more frequent because I am a High Risk. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

i am 5 wk 5 days today and woke up with spotting and cramps.  I was brought in for u/s which showed nothing.  I am waiting on my labs.  Saturday my levels was 1648.  Please pray for me!

Just an update: Had my appt today and everything measured right on schedule. We saw the gestational sac and yolk sac. No fetal pole yet. She said that is common because I am still pretty early along and by next week it should show. She did for a moment though think she saw the baby. It was just a little blip on the screen. Could there be a baby and no fetal pole? She told me everything looked normal though and said she wants me to come back in one week when things develop more and get bigger. We might even see a heartbeat then! I am hoping to see a baby and a strong heartbeat. Thanks for all of the support ladies.

at 5 weeks exactly I had an ultra sound. they could only see a gest. sac and a yolk sac. no fetal pole yet. my dr said late in the 5th week they can see a fetal pole but he wanted me to wait till the middle of my 6th week so we could see a heartbeat! so at 6 weeks 4 days I went back and not only saw a fetal pole but I got to see my babys heartbeat! good luck at ur dr appt and let us know how it went!!!

At 5 weeks I would be very surprised if you saw more than a gestational sac and maybe a  yolk sac.  Dont' be surprised or disappointed if that's all you see.  A repeat scan in a week or so should show atleast a fetal pole.

At 5 weeks you probably will only see a sac... if you are closer to six weeks you may see a fetal pole.  After 6 weeks you should be able to see a heart beat.  Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months :)
