When can I get pregnant?

Question

I just stopped taking birth control pills three days ago mid-cycle, I missed a pill and my husband and I had sex. Knowing that there is a small, but still, risk of getting pregnant, I stopped completely. I decided not to continue the pill because we had been wanting to try for another baby. I wanted to know what the possibility of getting pregnant is. Also I started bleeding yesterday more than my normal periods. I was only on the pill (aviane) for two and a half months could this affect how long it takes/how long will it take for me to ovulate again?

It really isn't that hard.  Stopping ovulation doesn't mean anything, once you stop your pills your cycle returns to normal, no big deal with stopping ovulation.  Every cycle your chances of getting pregnant without using any form of birth control is about 25% chance that you will become pregnant.  There's really not much you can do other than time the times you have sex around when you are supossed to be ovulating.
Miscarriages happen regardless whether you take pills or not, its just an abnormality in the conception that causes miscarriages or that the embryo isn't developing right, nothing you cause.  I wasn't on any form of birth control and I had a miscarriage in the summer, now I'm 5 1/2 months pregnant.
You may want to delay getting pregnant until after you fly so you don't have to get up and pee every 5 mins.  Or you just book a seat near the bathroom.

I know...and stressing out can drop my chances of getting pregnant. I honestly wish I explained to by the doctor that birth control stops ovulation...I never would have started it. I would much rather spend a little money on condoms instead of not ovulating at all! I hope I can get pregnant soon, due to flight issues I have a small window to have a baby where I am or possibly be pregnant flying, and who wants to have to pee every ten minutes on a plane?!?!?!?! lol

Before I got pregnant with my last son, I stoped my bc mid-pack and got pregnant that month, but ended in a mc....Now I have done this again, I stoped with only taking 3pills got a breakthought bleed about a week later, and I am now still waiting for AF or a + test.....Because you stop your pills there is a chance...Good Luck

I have been on and off birth control pills for about 6 years. As far as I know it doesn't matter how long you take it as long as it is more than one cycle, you are protected from prognency. Now because you missed one pill there is a slight chance you could get pregnant, but most likely you didn't especially if you are bleeding which happens almost always when you stop taking your pills mid cycle. Now you might get pregnant now after you missed more than one pill. In general every woman is different you could get pregnant just from missing one pill but it also could take you months to get pregnant after you stopped taking birth control pills completely.

I wasn't for sure how birth control affected you, I knew it prevented pregnancy by making your body think you are pregnant, I didn't know it stopped ovulation. This is the first time I've ever used birth control. We used other methods previously, and I'm now thinking I should have done the same this time. I purposely stopped. My husband and I decided it was ok to start trying for a second child. If I only took it for two and a half months and this is the first time I used it does anyone have experience with getting pregnant soon after? Or does it not matter how long you took it?

All birth control pills stop ovulation, that is how you don't get pregnant while on birth control.  Other birth control methods are, IUD's, Condom, Diaphram, Sponge, foam;  Those methods do not interfere with ovulation but they do prevent pregnancy.
Missing one pill will not necesarily let you get pregnant but you would have to double up the pills the next day to continue the pill cycle so you will not ovulate and become pregnant.

I just stopped Aviane which is supposed to stop ovulation. I didn't know it did that. I wasn't given a choice of birth control, the doctor just said "let me see what we have" and came back and told me my prescription had been sent. I only on it 2 and a half months. So I don't know if I was ovulating at all still, and I don't know if I will right away.
