I just did a conception date calculator on the internet and it says your period should have been around January 15th and your date of conception is somewhere between Jan 25th to Feb 2nd.  If you go to the web and search for "conception date calculator" you can put in your due date and it gives you the dates you more than likely conceived.

There were so many comments on this i hope i'm not repeating anything! I calculated it to be 1st Feb based on the ultrasound reading which is the most accurate. They go by lmp unitl u have a scan.  Basically to work out when you conceived you need to go back to the date when you would have been 2 weeks pregnant.  This is when you would have conceived.  This is when you would have ovulated as they say you are 2 weeks pregnant when you conceive as you are usually 2 weeks into a 4 week cycle for normal women.  Most women dont have "normal" cycles, i didnt! I actually my lmp when i conceived was end of september, if i had a normal cycle they would calculate my ovulation in mid october but i actually ovulated on 24th October so i was technically 3 weeks pregnant when i conceived by my lmp.

I hope that wasn't horribly confusing! Congrats anyway! x

Because they always go off of your lmp, even if you didn't have one or you ovulated later in your cycle. They still give women a 28 day cycle even if they have a 35 day cycle. So, by the time you ovulate and conceive, you are already 2 weeks pregnant by default.

Your ultrasound is adding in the 2 weeks extra. Even though you had only been pregnant for 5 weeks they are adding the 2 weeks and saying 7 weeks.

Sperm can also survive for a week, and implantation takes 7-14 days. Honestly, you would do best to save yourself the headache. (this is usually why doctors say to wait till you have a period before you try to get pregnant, lol) Unless paternity is called into question when you got pregnant does really matter.

I think you've really confused yourself. It's not only your midwife that adds two weeks. All doctors do. When an ultrasound is done those two weeks are already done and added in before it happens. The reason this is is for a 28 day cycle. A girl will ovulate (generally) on day 14 and then implantation occurs around 2 weeks later. This places you at 4 weeks pregnant. Like the others said, you don't count from the days you had sex or from conception. You count from LMP or more often ultrasound. I agree with the others. Based on your due date you conceived sometime from January 28th-February 5th.

Well my point is if you conceived Feb 1st you would be due, October 25th.  Just like I conceived around the 28th of Jan and I'm due Oct 21.  Regardless if you had a period or not, they can tell you a lot just from measurements from a ultrasound.

I'm due, Oct 21. My last LMP was Jan 14, I conceived around the 28th of January.  You don't start counting the weeks from when you conceived you start counting from your last period.

You would have concieved the first week of Feb. I was due last year on October 9th and I conceived on January 16th. So add 16 days and you would have conceived somewhere around Feb 1st.

First please note that with the human body there are no EXACT answers when it comes to anything. The dating of a pregnancy is an estimated date gathered from averages of thousands of measurements taken within a cross section of our country. Unless you have undergone a special procedure such as artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization, it is difficult to know the exact date of conception. Sperm can live at least 5 days in a woman's body. Some literature extends the life of sperm to 7 days. This means that you may conceive days after you've had intercourse.

Dating starts on the first day of your last period. Any time a pregnancy is dated, whether it is from the LMP or an ultrasound, an 2 extra weeks are always included in the calculation. During the first two weeks of "pregnancy" your body is really preparing for pregnancy. So if your period was on the first of the month, on the 14th, even though this is the "day of conception," you are considered two weeks pregnant.

So how do you find an estimation of when you conceived? Start on the date you had your earliest ultrasound. Take this date along with the weeks and days given by the ultrasound. Now count back to week 2. For example, if you had your ultrasound on June 13th which dated you at 6w5d, you would count back 4w5d and find May 11th conception. See the chart below for examples:

Date of Ultrasound Pregnancy Dating Conception Date
June 13th 6w5d May 11
June 20th 7w5d May 11
June 29th 9 weeks May 11

Ye true yep the notes from my scan went to my mid wife and my gyni ... Good luck to you too hun .p.s i only had sex middle of January thats why i mentioned the conception date to my mid wife she said its routine to add on two weeks , because i had mid wife on 31st march and she gave me my due date then as she had scan notes with her etc and she also said u conceived around end of January thats when i said if i conceived end of January the scan on 10th march would of been just over 5 weeks not just over 7 weeks lol confusing stuff

Sweetheart you're confusing yourself horribly. You're right you're not a doctor. I did not conceive in November nor December. My belly would be nice and round and I would be able to find out the sex of my baby by now if that was the case. Not to mention I had a check up both of those months. I was not pregnant. I conceived in the end of January just like my "doctor" said and that coincides with when I had intercourse.

Well when they measure the baby they put the measurements in and it should give you a pretty accurate duedate. Was that done with you? Don't try to calculate it yourself by their dates alone. I personally feel a woman knows when she's had sex.. compare it to your due date. Sure you may be off by a few days or so but it should match up fairly well. As long as you're progressing along and hitting each mile stone the "actual" dates shouldn't matter so much. Good luck :)
