You should register for your shower! Once I did that I stalked my registry instead of going out and buying everything...LOL. Once I had the registry all set up I would look at other peoples to see what they had and compare the items, and change them around if I saw something better. And you can see what people have bought and have an idea of what you may still need after your shower. It is good to buy outfits here and there I think. Espeically, the bigger sizes. Everyone that will buy you stuff usually fall in love with the tiny newborn outfits the baby only wears for a few weeks (my son is 6 weeks old and out of them already). You will need more of the bigger stuff 3-6 mos and 6-9 mos. =)
I'm not planning on buying anything until close to the birth but have set up a registry which i work on here and there. This is our first child I am 16.5wks
I started buying around 18 weeks but nothing of color and kept all receipts. 14 weeks we were told it was a boy and so at 24 weeks we had everything for a boy. At 28 weeks we were told it was a girl so we exchanged for girls things!
I have a few things people have given me but I'm not shopping till after my baby showers. We aren't finding out the sex so I think people are more likely to gift us things we need vs. clothing. We will see.
You still have plenty of time :)
I'm not even pregnant yet and I have the crib, carseat, swing etc picked out. I LOVE green and it can be neutral. I have also picked up a few older age outfits. And shoes! My baby will leave the hospital in shoes (fettish! Lol)
Like someone said early they wear them like once and those extra outfits go to places like thrift stores and goodwills and ima big fan of both! :)
I have bought all my baby gear already... I hadn't saved any thing from my last two kids so everything is brand new.... I'm only 17 weeks but I bought all my stuff cause I got settlement money
Some good things to "invest in" is ................
boppy...... with slipcovers
Bouncer........ not a swing, not all babies like the motion
bassinet...... DEFINATLY cant do without one...
Sleep positioner..... no specific "brand" i personally went with the babiesrus one. it was gr8
a few bottles..... like 3..... different ones.... to see which baby will like...
a few paci's most babies love either the nuk, its tiny perfect for small mouth, and mam.
monitor.... regular one not the video one...as you wont be watching your baby all day long
couple wicker baskets...... gr8 for the first few months for diapees, and later for toys.
DEFINATLY definatly paint babys room, wallpaper, put it all together...... pick out bedding set way ahead of time, in case what you like you might have to place an order or something...... also chose something, baby who will soon be toddler wont mind when they are like 4 or 5...... i never wanted to go with "characters"..... such as pooh, or tinkerbell..... its too much i think. i think as accents in a room, it looks cute, and its nice you dont feel strange for buying other decor without messing with the "pooh" theme. just some tips..... ;) if you want message me .......
I know for bottle feeding i'd recommend Tommeeee Tipeeeeeeeee bottles :)...
LOL

Yeah I really want to shop for clothes, but like you said i know i will get alot of it at my shower, thats seems to be the most popular thing for people to get you because its easy, not overly expensive and fun to buy. I remember with my best friend, her daughter never even got to wear all of her new newborn and 1-3 month stuff cause she had so much.
Wow i feel behind! lol. Guess its time to start shoppng around then!! thanks for the input ladies! And if there are any kind fo brands of any kind of stuff you would recommend that would be great! DS is my step son so i havent bought anything for newborns and such since my brothers were born when i was 12! alot has changed since then haha
I started buying things when i found out i was prego.... i am a fan of neutral shades.... i absolutly love yellow! and once i found it was a girl.... i had relatives, esp. our moms.... mines and DH would buy us something everytime they went out to stores...lol... i had everything before 3rd trimester.... the room was in order by the 8th month. Dont buy too much clothes..... buy NICE clothes.... i mean gap, gymboree, old navy, and usually (depending how much friends you have) youll get the onsies and the sleepers and all that for baby shower. I know i got SO MUCH CLOTHES I mean enough for triplets. My daughters closet is STILL much bigger then both DH and I...... seriously... clothes is something that you will get. My child would be lucky if she got to wear her clothes just once..... and every single sunday she had a totally new outfit ( either a nice dress, none of that carters stuff.... )

I started buying at about 24 weeks... maybe a little later. Now all I need is a car seat and I'm good. Its a relief to know that everything is already taken care of.
I started buying stuff once I was out of the first trimester. I had pretty much everything I needed and ready to go by the time I was 24 weeks.
