When to start meats?

I know with Elijah it was the last thing I started him on when he was at least 10 months old. WIC has changed a lot in the last few years, and now they have it on the checks starting at six months. Should I be giving Aubryana meats yet, at six months, or should I just wait until she is a little older? I've started feeding her once a day about 1-2 ounces of cereal or a vegetable. I'm waiting til next Monday's appointment to ask about how often and how much to feed her, but I figured I'd ask you ladies too since it's been three years since I've done this I've forgotten and Elijah started earlier, with cereal at four months. SO...when do I start meats and how much/often should I feed her? Should I do cereal in the morning and a veggie at night or just stick to once a day?

I don't always give Brady meats but when I do it's either beef, chicken or turkey, oh and ham. He is turning 8 months in a few days and only has the 2 bottom teeth. He gums it pretty well.
For his meals I mainly give him a veggie and then a fruit. I also will give him other things from what I'm eating as well.

WIC where I am told me to give Lexi meats. We just started like a week or two ago and she LOVED it. Lexi gets one, maybe two meals a day. I would say she gets maybe a jar of baby food and then gets 3-4 ounces of formula afterwards. Her ped said she should be getting 3-4 ounces of formula or breast milk after solids, and to play with it until we figured out what she can hold to get in that much formula.

Mainly we give her a fruit and a veggie and mix it together. She seems to hate most of her veggies. lol. The only ones she'll eat by herself are squash and sweet potatoes. I really didn't want to give Lexi solids so I waited until her ped told me she needed to have it at least once. I started off an on at 4 months, but didn't give it to her consistantly until now bc she didn't really get how to work her mouth. Now she does, and she wants to eat when she sees us eat. She does much better now.

I'd do what you're more comfortable with. If it's a fruit or veggie, then that's what I'd do.

hey lady

i have been feeding Em gerber stages starting about 5 months....i started with stage 1 (fruits/vegs) for about a month....tested for allergies and then moved her up to stage 2....i stayed on each stage for about a month

my ped said that even without teeth you would be amazed how good babies can gum food.....i literally just started feeding Em gerber graduates where she is eating actual food last week

i dont know if that helps because every baby is so different and what i did for my son i couldnt do for Em because Em was a premie

I didn't start meats until about 9 months. I firstly started at 6 months with pureed vegies, then onto fruits and then a mixture, and then slowly introduced chicken mixed with a vegie or fruit (e.g. apple). In the beginning it's more about getting them used to the taste and texture of things, and quantity is not so important as they rely on milk as their main source of nutrition.

At six months, I tried at lunchtime, and then it was only a few spoons and slowly tried another mealtime (dinner) at around 7-8 months or so.

Aubryana has no teeth, and isn't showing any signs of getting any really. I'm still exclusively breast feeding and I nurse her before I give her anything so she doesn't get full on the food.

At 6 months I fed Kaelynn oatmeal she wont eat the cereal. I mixed it with half a jar of fruit. Then I would feed her about half a jar of veggies in the evening.

If she ate it great but most the time she only took a few bites.

I tried meats a few times starting at 8 months. She never would eat them. Now she's 10 months and has 9 teeth so she eats what we eat for dinner. She loves chicken. I still feed her oatmeal mixed with a half jar of fruit and toast for breakfast.
