White stuff on nipples and it came off!

I know this is TMI, but I am a little concerned about this. The other day my boobs were itching, so I scratched them through my shirt, but that didn't help. I had to take off my bra and shirt and scratch. Then my nipple started itching and  I have noticed over the past few weeks there is white spots on the nipple part (I just assumed it was a way of my body preparing a way for the milk to come out). I scratched very gently but the white stuff came off!! It was mushy and I started to freak out a little. Does anyone know what this is?

Its probably colostrum, a secretion from your nipples before your milk comes in. It may have leaked a bit and just dried on your nipple which is why it was kind of mushy. Nothing to worry about. Completely normal.

Hmm, it could be some early colustrum or discharge. Its not uncommon. Also, I think you could get thrush even without a nursing infant, that might explain the itch. Also, your skin and nipples are extra sensitive during this time, so maybe you need to try a gentler soap or detergent? Be sure to check with your doc!

Thank you :) I was unsure of what it was and I forgot to ask my doctor when I went. I'm glad to hear its nothing serious.
