Wild game? Fish?

OK I know about the mercury problems with fish. We get some of our fish from local waters (I know which streams and lakes are safe) and most of the warnings I found online are for either tuna or exotic species. But we often buy bulk bags of fish and seafood like pollock, shrimp, tilapia, scallops and so forth. Can anybody explain a little more about whether any or all of these are safe?

Also, my guy just shot a white-tailed buck last night. Is there any reason not to eat wild game?

I live in south Texas and get all of our fish from the bays, when I was pregnant with my son we had alot of fish frys and my dr was ok with that. And deer meat is fine as long as it is cooked all the way :) And depending on where you live and the different laws, you may have to worry about lead. Down here we are only able to use rifles, no shotguns.

I'M NOT SURE ABOUT WILD GAME, BUT MY DR ADVISED ME TO LIMIT MY FISH INTAKE TO ONLY TWICE A MONTH. AND I LIVE IN NEW ORLEANS, WHERE WE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE OIL SPILL IN OUR GULF, AND THAT'S WHERE WE GET MAJORITY OF OUR SEAFOOD FROM, AND MY DR WAS REALLY ADAMANT ABOUT STAYING AWAY FROM SHRIMP AND OTHER SEAFOOD OUT OF THE GULF OF MEXICO. HOPE THAT HELPS. GOOD LUCK.

I would just check with your local health dep, or dep of  environment about the lakes/rivers just in case, to be on the safe side :)

game should be fine, just make sure all the lead is out !  Also fish is ok, 2 portions a week, the mercury is from the deep sea fish and the big ones that eat other fish, so if your catching them from rivers and lakes you should be fine
