dnikki0928 is right! It does constipate you terribly! And if you are already having trouble keeping things down, eating, and just the added fact that you are pregnant plus the Zofran.....well that part really stinks. But I know like dnikki said, stool softeners are very safe was well, plus my doc told me I could take Benefiber. So there are things you can do the counteract the constipation side effect. But if it helps you, I say go for it.
I didn't feel like it helped me much but I did throw up less when I took it. For some, it is truly a miracle drug!
I took Zofran a couple of times early in this pregnancy. It worked for a few days...beware though - it can make you constipated as all get out!!! I didn't go for days and my stomach hurt so bad from that. I had to take a stool softener to go per my RE. So, if you continue taking it - be sure to eat a diet rich in fiber lol!!!
Zofran is very safe. I took it with my last pregnancy. I was just like you. But I had 5 other kids and I was working full time as well. I could hardly function so I took the Zofran and Mary is now a thriving 4 month old. It is very safe and has been given for many years now for the nausea/vomitting.
So don't worry. It is safe :)
zofran is safe :). there are 2 nausea medicines that are considered safe for pregnancy, and zofran sounds like the better choice for you (since phenergan makes you sleepy, and that's the other option, i think it would freak you out!). every medicine is going to carry warnings, and there will be people who SWEAR that this medicine caused this or that...but that's the internet for you. it is considered safe, and your OB only prescribed it because they felt it was safe....so you should relax and take it when you feel you need to, but don't worry about it or feel guilty. I took it with my daughter and she's very healthy. I've taken phenergan with both pregnancies and again, DD was very healthy, and my little boy has been very healthy so far (15wks now :) ). I do the same thing and only take the medicine when I need to DO something that the nausea would interfere with....and just deal with it naturally the rest of the time.
but don't worry, it IS safe :)
