am i pregnant?

My husband and I had unprotected sex 2 days or so after my last period which started September 24th and I was suppose to start my period on October 22nd but as of today, October 31st, I still have not started.  2 days ago I had some brown discharge but there wasn't very much of it.  I have had unbelievably sore breasts and mild cramping.  From what I have read about implantation bleeding it usually happens BEFORE you are suppose to start your period and since the spotting happened almost a week after I am confused as to if that is what it was or not.  I took a pregnancy test yesterday and was negative.  I don't have health insurance for the next couple of months so I would like to avoid going to the doctor if I can.  Does anyone have any ideas about what could be going on with me?  I have been pregnant before and spotted like this but that just continued into heavier bleeding and eventually a miscarriage so I'm not sure that it is the same.  I would appreciate any help I could get on this. Thanks.

It is possible to get pregnant during your period but my Dr said that is usually only the case if the woman has unusually short cycles.  And he told me sperm can live up to 48 hours in a womans body.  Sorry about AF showing ....

Well, I got my period.  Seems as though I was just 9 days late for no reason.  I am going to guess that it wasn't a miscarriage due to the neg test and starting my period shortly after that.  Thanks for all your guys' help on this.

I have heard from doctors that sperm can live for a while inside a woman so even if you aren't ovulating when have sex if you ovulate soon you can still get pregnant.

I don't know if you are trying to get pregnant or not but I would highly doubt you are pregnant.  B/c you get pregnant when you Ovulate and you don't Ovualte until around 2 weeks after your period on an normal 28 day cycle.  And then usually 2 weeks later you have another period.  So just 2 days after your period would be far to soon for an egg to be present for fertilization.  But I would also say that it could be just a wierd period we all have those.  But never the less good luck in whatever happens.

The spotting only happened one morning and was done by that afternoon so now I guess I will wait till this weekend and test again.  Thanks for your help on this.  I had never heard of the implantation bleeding before now so I guess we'll see what happens.  I'll update as soon as I know anything.

You would be the same as me with dates. My last period was 22nd september. I am now 5 and a bit weeks pregnant, after doing 2 tests. It is common to have spotting or a light period from my knowledge, as hormone levels vary, early on, and cant quite stop periods. I would suggest doing a test 3-4 days after the last test, if bleeding is still light or different and see then as hormone level rises quickly if you are pregnant. You are bound to worry after a miscarriage but its not guarenteed to happen again. Rest, and see what the next few days bring. Dont worry.
