amoxicillin uti 10 weeks prego

I have I uti ( can tell because it burns when I pee, I'mgoing to the restroom every 5 min and when I drank cranberry juice it relieved the burning sensation) now I have some left over amoxicillin 500mg from like 3 months ago. Is it ok if I take that?

Bumpinbaby1995 sometimes amox is the right med however not always. Especially if you've ever had a UTI before amox is usually too weak... Esp the 500mg dose. When they do a utine culture on you they always do what's called an ID and sensitivity to make sure the antibiotics they put you on will kill the bacteria.

Jaidens_mommy20 burning with urination is a very common symptoms of a UTI. As well as back pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, urinary frequency, cloudy urine, and strong foul smelling urine

You need to call your OB, not all bacteria that cause UTI's are susceptible to amoxicillin so your Dr will need to determine the appropriate antibiotic for you. Also if you do not take at least 7-10 full days of treatment you will not kill the infection, you may feel better but what your actually doing is killing off all the weak bacteria while the stronger resilient ones remain I'm your system and develop resistance to the antibiotics

Don't take anything yet. Call your dr schedule an appointment ASAP! I had an UTI and I don't remember it burning. You're still very early, call your dr and see what they say. Continue to drink the Cranberry juice and lots of water until then
