Good Advice, I had no idea!!! I guess the person I know just didn't discover them until they were already full blown infestation. Thanks for that information. I think it's good to know even if you don't suspect bedbugs!!!!
I consider myself a bedbug expert as I have worked in social housing buildings that have been infested and trying to clear 50 units of bed bugs was a huge task. Let alone we do a bed bug spray once a month at my current work...
Yes beg bugs can be cleared if they havent fed yet.. Bed bugs start off paper thin and clear. They only puff up and turn reddish brown once they have eaten. Bedbugs hatch millions of eggs so it could be a new one... You may not have any marks or rashes at this point as #1 not everyone has a reaction to the numbing agent they put in you, and #2 if this is a new infestation then it could just be started. Bed bugs tend to target legs and stomachs first if you wanted to check for marks. Some marks could literally be as small as a small red dot, which could also be anything so you can never tell..
You can also check for them but looking very closely with a flashlight along the cracks/crevices of your mattress. bed bugs tend to hide during the day but you would be looking for brownish or red spots (can very tiny).. This would indicate signs of fecal matter.. If you are unsure of a spot, poor some peroxide on the spot and it will fizzle if it contains blood.
There are several things you should do...
#1 if you can afford it buy a new mattress and box spring... Also buy a vinyl mattress cover and put duct tape along the zipper to prevent any bugs from getting in your new mattress.. If you cannot afford it, then you can do the vinyl cover and duct tape thing and the bugs that are currently on your mattress will be trapped but vacuum the box spring and mattress before wrapping them....
#2. Wash all your linens in hot water and run them through the dryer on high heat twice. If you are extra paranoid, you can put them in garbage bags after, heavily taping the openings and get new linens ...
#3 Wash all your clothes in the same manner, bag up any clothes that are not in season and put them in storage until you need them
#4 Put vaseline on the bottom legs of any furniture. Bed bugs will get stuck in and wont be able to crawl up the furniture.. They cannot jump or fly.
#5 CALL AN EXTERMINATOR. at least to do an inspection. If it is bed bugs, you will not get rid of them unless you get your house sprayed. If you are pregnant, you will not be able to return to your house for at least 12 hours afterwards.
If you are getting your house sprayed.. you will need to bag up all linens and clothes and move all the furniture to the middle of the room.. Off the wall... they do the spraying around the base boards, etc as bed bugs tend to hide in there... If they did an inspection and the infestation is bad, you will need to get at least 2 spraying probably a couple weeks apart to ensure best results..
hope this helps.
I don't think bed bugs are clear. But if it is bed bugs, the ONLY way you are going to kill them is through an exterminator. I know someone who went through this and once they are in your house they get into EVERYTHING. It's doubtful what you found was a bed bug. You would be noticing rashes from their bites and they typically only come out at night and are hard to see during the day. Getting a new bed isn't going to solve the problem as they can get intot he carpet, clothes, everything,.
yay new bed havent had a new bed since i was 10 haha so excited the reason for doing it ***** but hey im killing two birds with one stone haha
