I was told in 2002 that I'd NEVER carry a baby to term. I had my 1st daughter in 2003.  Got pregnant again in 2007 to twins that I lost @ 24 weeks.  Was Diagnosed in 2007 with PCOS & told I wouldn't have another child, but conceived my 2nd living daughter February of 2008 & carried her to term. Still suffer from PCOS & currently 27 weeks pregnant with my little boy.

Getting pregnant with PCOS is NOT impossible & happens to many women every day. Some dr's see the diagnosis of PCOS & don't want to bother helping the patient.  I saw 3 different doctors & all said the same thing..... PERSISTENCE IS KEY !!!

Good luck
Melissa

I want to mention another couple of things. The first being that losing weight is the most beneficial thing you can do with PCOS and can cause your body's hormones to regulate (this is assuming you have weight to lose). Another thing is that there is a really good book out there by an online acquaintance of mine named Melissa Ford called Navigating the Land of IF that was written for women struggling with infertility. BEST book out there to hold your hand through this time. She may also have suggestions for you that you aren't aware of. Not to mention her resources and her own blog filled with people going through the same thing are referenced.

You can find that book on Amazon for under $12.

I have PCOS and have been able to conceive after the diagnosis. PCOS alone doesn't mean you'll never conceive. I have a friend who has the most severe case of PCOS along with other detrimental reproductive health concerns and she has one daughter. It was a long journey to get that baby girl but if you've got the means then there is a way. Like I said before, I wouldn't give up. I'd find a way.

forgot to mention that my periods were very irregular for the past year or so. sometimes i missed a whole month. sometimes 20 days late. i got my last period on Nov 3rd. doc says i conceived on Nov 5th according to the measurements of baby on ultrasound. which sounds crazy as there is no way i was ovulating while on periods. nothing adds up scientifically. but we only believe what docs say. and they believe whatever current level of scientific research on any given topic says. therez so much more that we as human beings, doctors, scientists still haven't discovered. so what i'm trying to say is don't worry and don't take the doctor's words as the end of the world. try alternatives like acupuncture and herbs

i recently got pregnant after trying for 6+ yrs. i got some tests done back in 2007 which showed some problem with my LH & FSH level. other than that, doctors wanted me to get my fallopian tubes checked which i never did. i didn't get any treatment. me and my husband tried 3 or 4 times a week for the first few years. but last year i got so tired of trying that we use to have sex just once or twice a month. i didn't get any more tests done either. i had given up hope. but i used to pray that i get pregnant and then i got pregnant out of no where. so don't ever think you can never have children without assistance. as long as you are breathing, and as long as you have ovaries, uterus etc, there is always a chance. when you least expect it, you'll get pregnant. i know women who got pregnant at age 60+ not kidding. doctors know a lot but they don't know everything. pray to god and don't be disheartened. good luck

You said you have you have seen many doctors...have you looked into any alternative therapies???

A dear friend of mine was diagnosed with PCOS and her husband had major sperm issues. They both started seeing an acupuncturist and after 6 months she conceived...naturally. She was told it would never happen. They tested his sperm before and after treatment and there was a significant change! And her cycles normalized within 3 months and she started ovulating. It doesn't work for everyone but it is worth a shot. The same acupuncturist started treating me after 8 months of TTC on my own. 6 weeks after starting treatment she told me I need to take a a pregnancy test. I am now 37 weeks. I'm not trying to give you false hope. I just wanted to offer a different approach.

I am currently 16 wks pregnant with my 4th pregnancy, hopefully my 2nd child as I have endometriosis and was told years ago I should have my tubes tied and wouldn't ever be able to have a child naturally. My husband has low count and low morphology. My 1st successful pregnancy came after 4 yrs of trying. After trying for 2 years for the 2nd I did IUI with the help of meds and so far it is going well. You need to seek help from an RE. That is what they specialize in. Also, if you join the fertility community there are many women on there who have PCOS and have been pregnant more than once with different methods and medications. There is always hope, don't let the Dr's tell you it is impossible, NOTHING is impossible!

Could you provide a little more information on the reasoning behind your doctor's thinking? My personal opinion is to seek a second opinion. And I'm a firm believer in miracles. Don't give up hope. ;-)

Can I ask why they said you would NEVER conceive naturally? Many of us have been told we probably can't but we have managed to do so with some help. You are so young, there are many options out there and I would go for a second opinion.
