Sorry for the late reply. Yes there are different types of pills. Among what gege_gen said my ob said many women had bleeding problems that would not stop like a non stop period and mood swings/depression. No matter what bc effects women differently so if you really arent sure what to get do your homework and read the side effects for each kind you might be interested in. You'd be amazed at all the side effects they can cause. Its more of a pick your poison situation lol.

I worked at an ob/gyn office and the doctor there didn't recommend the implanon which is the one that goes in ur arm she says it can make u gain up to 50lbs if not more she had lots of pts that took it out and were almost double the weight they were when they started with it! I was on depo shot for 4yrs and i never gained weight no bleeding problems my cycles would last 2-3 days and were very light this time around I'm not sure what to get on because pills give me migraines but now that they have different types of pills i might just try one that works better for me

Ive tried almost every birth control. I was on the pill ortho tri lo when I got pregnant at 17 and never missed a day but to be honest I wasn't the best about taking it the same time every day. After my first kid I got the Mirena iud and had it removed finally after two years of problems. It caused pain, bleeding, discomfort, I had to have the wires trimmed multiple times, and eventually became pregnant and had a miscarriage. After that I finally got it removed. But I do know a lot of people who have Mirena and love it so im sort of a special case. I have never had the iud that goes in the arm but my ob spoke very poorly of it and actually will not offer it in her office because of all the problems she said it causes. I tried the nuva ring for a month and actually liked it but my husband didnt like that he could feel it during sex so I didnt stay on it. I did the deposit shot once for the three month trial and did not like the side affects at all. Its not that it makes you gain weight it just makes you really hungry all the time like you cant get full. If you dont watch your intake you can gain a lot of weight. I also just felt sick and sluggish and didnt have a period the whole time I was on it. Finally went back to the pill(but a different kind) and liked it. I wasn't on any birth control this time when I got pregnant. Also keep in mind that if you are breast feeding that there are several different birth controls that you cant take because it will dry up your breast milk

I had a friend who did the depo and she gain a lot of weight and when she did bleed she would bleed sometimes for almost a month straight with heavy bleeding. I did the pill where I got a period every 3 months and when I got my period it was like a normal period not heavy nor long or anything.

The depo is AMAZING in my eyes no complications. Worked within 5  days for me. And my side effects was just mood swings. I had weight loss since I've  been on it. And today would be month #4 for me and i wouldn't change birth control at all.

I got the mirena iud right after i had my first and had a lot of probs with it...it went to far into my uterus and gave me the same effect as having sex too soon after birth and always poked my husbands man part becuz of the wirey things even after i got them trimmed three times. I like the pill set an alarm on your phone...my friend really liked the one in the arm im going for the permanent fix this time but just figured i would throw that out there

If you reacted that way to the depo you might have the same symptoms with the arm implant. I had that before I got pregnant and had my period for four months straight. Ended up having to get it taken out

Why not try the implant in the arm? That's what my mom and sister got and they haven't faced the effects of the depo or had to worry about taking a pill everyday.

I took the birth control Apri for four years and stopped once I got married. It took me one year to get pregnant even when he ejaculated in me, but after that year I got pregnant quick as hell.

That's the iud. Two of my cousins have that in their arm and it works as soon as they put it in. Neither of my cousins have had any issues with it at all
