bleeding after loss of baby

hi there!
i have had an interupted pregnancy due to what is thought to be either chromosome problems or skeletal dysplasia???? ( waiting on results)  9 days ago i  was induced to give birth to my baby at 17wks gestation, my concern is i was bleeding normally up untill five days past birth when i experienced pain and very heavy bleeding for 1 day it then tappered off untill almost nothing. Now at 9 days past i have pain again and have passed some clots about the size of golf balls and heavy bleeding. i am concerned as to what this may be?

I am so sorry for your loss. It sucks you have to go through all this physical stuff on top of losing a child. My heart and prayers are with you.

As to your question, you need to see your doctor because if you are still passing tissue that should've been taken care of at the birth. You might get an infection if anything is "left behind" so you might want to see them to make sure it won't hurt you.

I don't know the answer to your question but wanted to send my condolences as I cannot even imagine what you are going thru......I just had to have a D&C yesterday for a missed miscarriage @ 8 1/2 weeks and i thought it was the end of world....I can't imagine what you must be going through and know that my thoughts are with you.

I think they say the cramping comes with the passing of tissue, which makes sense in your case, since you did pass some clots. I'm not sure exactly what it could be, but my guess would be maybe parts of the placenta...but I'm really not sure about that. Do you have a follow-up appointment sometime soon? If not, maybe you should set one up. Just so your doctor can check things out and make sure everything's OK.

I am truly sorry to hear about your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you...
