My daughter had this 3 weeks ago, They did not tell here what they now tell her since she is hospitalised now and hooked up to an IV with antibiotics. One said completed bedrest till week 28. Another said can be up but take it easy. Another said no vaginal trauma (intercourse) but ok to be up and around. She has been having blood clots and light bleeding/ heavy bleeding intermittently last 3 weeks.
When she started having cramping too the 2nd time around, Wednesday Morning 2am they did the 3rd ultrasound and found no sac, therefore no amniotic fluid around the baby. These OB doctors and nurses explained the fulid and blold she has been leaking all along was the amniotic fluid because the sac was ruptured. The can never tell how much it is ruptured. A small tear or a large hole. The placenta is tearing away from the uterus and can cover the opening to the cervix so it drains slowly. Why complete bedrest till week 28 or longer is The babies lungs need the fluid to develop, even a small amount of fluid allows the lungs eyes,, trachea, (airway) to develop. Then the baby can survive outside the womb, not before that. Now there is no sac which was the clots and blood everyone kept just saying they didn't know where it comes from. This poses a greater risks which is, bateria infection from the baby to the mother which is very toxic and fast and not always controlled by the iv antibiotics they have her on. Bacteria infection to the baby because the protection barrier is gone. The good news is Mom is now on bedrest in hospital. Has happened in the past that Mom stays hydrated and the fluids are passed to baby thru umbiblical cord, the baby at this young pees and that is what makes/ adds to the amniotic fluid, which if baby can lay in it the lungs can develop, baby can live out side Mom. Docs say there are risks with long life problems. Eyes, airways, brain, etc... It has been 42 1/2 hours now. Mom is drinking lots of fluidsand iv saline too. Prayers for us and we are saying prayers for you also.
Oh hun.... Im sorry.... I hope all works out for you and your little one! I will be praying for you two!!! Good Luck
And if you want to google it.... the bleeding IN the sac is Intramniotic hematoma
They didn't really give me much information, just said there was bleeding in the sac and the baby would either be ok or die. i shall check out the intra thing now, thanks very much.
It's definitely bleeding in the sac.
Subchorionic hematoma is behind the sac. Are you sure they didn't say the bleeding was behind not in?
Did the Dr. tell you what it meant or what is going on? Did they tell you that it is something to be worried about?
It could be a sub-chorionic hematoma or Intramniotic hematoma (you can google both to get additional info) which is INSIDE the sac......
Im sorry I am of no help..... Hope all turns out well
