I can't tell you about your midwife it all depends on how they run their practice; for some doctors I've waited mere minutes, for some I've waited days or weeks. Since you're early in your pregnancy they may be taking their time getting back to you, but I would call again when they re-open monday and leave another message.

If you're having light cramping, that's fairly normal in early pregnancy, but if it's severe cramping accompanied with bleeding and/or shooting pains between your shoulder blades, you should go to the urgent care or ER and get looked at, or at the least call your doctor.

Otherwise the best thing you can do now is relax, enjoy your pregnancy, and try to stay healthy!

You can add me as a friend if you'd like; this is my 3rd pregnancy (second child...my first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage) and I'm not that much farther than you are, so maybe we can support each other through the next nine months :).

also: is the father's baby in your life at all? if you're in a relationship with him, he can be a very good support system for you through all the stress and worry (and every pregnancy has a fair bit of that, even if things go perfectly normally!). If he's not, do you have family you can rely on through your pregnancy? It's always good to have a good support/advice system at home (as well as online :) ) so you feel comfortable and safe throughout your pregnancy.

Good luck!! :)

Ohhh I see....That ***** that your coworkers are so awful. I don't believe that being used to heavy lifting makes a difference...your doctor will be able to tell you for sure, and like I said maybe he'll write you a note excusing you from heavy lifting due to health complications or something of the sort....your co-workers would probably give you c*rap about that, but better that than hurting yourself! Not sure, ask your doctor and good luck :).

May I ask why you don't want anyone to know? You're probably going to have to end up telling them so that you can protect yourself and your baby. Unless you can get your doctor to write a note excusing you from heavy lifting because of "health complications" or something along those lines you probably need to be up front with your manager/supervisor so they can take appropriate steps to keep you from overexerting yourself. The general rule for lifting is anything that you have to strain for. A carton of milk is not going to hurt. A Crate of milk? probably off-limits for a pregnant woman.
