Okay Sweetie. Your cervix dilates to 10 at the point where you need to push. If it's dilated - open - at all, that means you are in the very first stages of labor, and you need to be looking for cramps - feeling like you have to have a bowel movement - and especially, this thing that comes out which is pretty darn big - the mucous plug. Every time you go to the bathroom just look and see. When that mucous plug comes out, and especially if your water breaks...go to the hospital. Right away. Oh. And I won't lie to you - having a baby does hurt. You will forget that pain though afterward - it's part of it. You are on the verge of the beginning of your life. I promise. Please let me know how you are! Be well - Dix

Getting your cervix checked is definitely not a comfortable experience! My doctor has been checking mine since 36 weeks due to some preterm labor issues. Don't be surprised if you have some spotting after getting checked. I do every time!
