If its USC in San Diego almost all of the community colleges around here have 1/2 a semester courses. You woul have to look into what classes they offer like that.
I didn't want to waste this semester but my little born is going to be born in the middle of the semester so I decided to take 8 week classes in the beginning now I just finished those and waiting for my little guy to arrive. You can do it :)
Lol yeah. I definitely don't want to be stuck in telemarketing for the rest of my life.
Exactly, my daughter motivates me like me like no other.. I want to set a good example for her and for this little one on the way, my kids education is the most important thing to me..I just look at the big picture too.. I can have it tough now and attain the skills/knowledge I need to live a richer more satisfying life later, or I can work dead end jobs I hate for the rest of my life..
I was going to school too when I ha my first baby. It was more difficult but I totally did it. I talked to all my professors at the beginning of the semester and most of them were willing to work with me. I dropped the classes for the ones who weren't. I ended up with only 3 classes that semester and I ended up taking an incomplete in one of them and then finishing it the following semester. It all worked out and it did put me behind about a year as far as finishing but it really is completely doable and so totally worth it.
I think that's the most horrible reason to drop out of school. Of course it will be harder, but I'm already extremely more motivated to finish off my degree.
I'm a full time student at a community college.. I also have a 5yr old daughter and I'm a single parent. My man and I are together, but we don't live together for various reasons. I'm 21 weeks, my baby is due march 9th and winter term ends march 23rd so yay I'll have a newborn during finals.. The college I attend offers a lot of online classes and telecourses so I'm going to try to register mostly for those, they require more organization and you have to stay focused for them well, most of them, but they are great for new mother who need a flexible schedule. I might have to take a lecture class, but most instructors will work with you if you work something out ahead of time. It's difficult going to school and being a parent, but it's manageable as long as you're organized.. Stick with it! I see so many people drop out just because they have a baby..
Yeah I'm going to have to miss a term because my munchkin is due the beginning of June. By taking a term off I'll have my rest time before baby. This term (well week) has been crazy because I just found out I wd pregnant because of flu like symptoms. Think I finally have the sickness down lol.
Yes most ppl thnk jus,bc ur hvin a bby ur life is ova but my son motivates me : ) If I kan party all night & go 2 class with a hangova I kan wake up afta making bottles all nite & go to class. & I neva, heard of that book but Im goin to look in2 it sounds great.......congrats 2 evryone WE KAN DO IT :-)
Sweet I'm going to get the book! And wow, you were lucky!
We did Baby Wise with our first. it was good. He slept through the night (about 6-7 hrs long) at 6 weeks old. Also check out the "doing her nights" chapter in the book "Bringing up Bebe." So good!
My first was due the first day of finals week my last semester of grad school. I kept telling him he couldn't come until after that and kept believing and praying he would wait and he was 6 days late. Perfect timing.
On Becoming Baby Wise- Giving Your Infant the Gift of Nighttime Sleep
@shirano-the book is called baby wise? @rikareek- that's why I need accelerated courses, because when I have my baby before/during exam time, I will be completely unprepared/exhaused for exams. And unfortunately, I'm due May 2nd, so even if I were able to take my exams I'd be cutting it clothes. But yay for us for actually trying to continue our education after we get pregnant :)
It's a feeding/scheduling theory that takes a lot of crap from a lot of people. But it is actually smart I think. Basically you combine the best of both worlds of demand feeding and scheduled feeding. Some people say it is too ridged bit the book says that if the baby is hungry feed them even if its not the scheduled time. I have friends that have used it and its wonderful. It helps the baby learn how to be on a schedule (a flexible one) and they end up sleeping through the night faster. By like 3 months I think. I would suggest reading it.
Hi Im also goin 2 b a mother & student : ) I was goin online but Im thinking abt goin to a ground campus bc im mre hands on. Was it possible for you to tak ur exams early due to your baby?
Ya for a little while anyways. I'm doing baby wise though so it shouldn't be too bad.
Lol, I can definitely see sleepless nights for us for the next few years
Nope I still got at least another year and my hubby has two years
Thanks! Good to know I'm not the only one that's going to be raising a baby and going to school lol
My baby is coming a week before spring break at my school lol. I'm just going half time next term. Also I am sure they have accelerated courses just look them up.
