Me and my husband are wanting to have a baby but dont understand the whole fertlity thing. I know there is a best time of the month to have sex...we just dont know how to find out that day.
My last period started dec 14th. when would be the next best day to have sex and the chance of conception be really high?

some women have very irregular cycle..it can vary from month to month.. if your period starts 14th every month, some months has 30 days and some months have 31 days then it will be depending on how many days in  between your last month period (1st day) to the next 1st day of period..

it can be 30 days or 31 days or even 28 days..!

for e.g., last month i started on Nov 22 and my  next period comes on Dec 20, then i have 28 days cycle.

yeah, tried alot on that 28th week.. that is how i got pregnant.....!!!! (i hv 29 days cycle, so i just tried hving sex every day starting 11th day ffrom my 1st day of lmp)

your cycle begins on the first day of your period and ends the last day before your next period.  about a week before you suspect ovulation, get an ovul pred kit and start peeing on those sticks!  they will help to narrow down the 24-48 hours before ovulation... good luck girlie!

so when someone asks me what the length of my cycle is do i say its 32 days?? i start my period on the 14th of every month..then its 32 days till the next 14th..so my cycle is 32 days?
im guessing we will try alot on the 28th. I just want to know the BEST day that i would have the BEST chance.

There is a 48 hours period in which you can get pregnant in a cycle. Men are always fertile, but women are only fertile when they ovulate (the egg is released from the ovary).

You need to figure out when you ovulate. You ovulate 14-16 days BEFORE your next period (if you have irregular periods, you cannot just guess when you ovulate).

To find out when you're ovulating, you can either spend money on ovulation prediction kits. Or you can do a free, at home test every day. You check for cervical discharge, or cervical mucous as I call it (CM for short).

On days that you're not fertile, you will be dry and not have CM. When you start to produce CM it means ovulation is about to begin!!! The discharge may be yellowish, white, cloudy, gummy, tacky, etc. WHEN YOU BEGIN TO SEE CM IS WHEN YOU NEED TO START HAVING SEX, EVERY OTHER DAY.

I say every other day because doctors are debating on whether or not having sex every night can deplete a man's sperm count or lower the chances of having healthy sperm at conception.

Anyway, when you ovulate, the CM will change. It will become CLEAR like raw egg whites and stretch to an INCH or more. Remember, you only have about a 48 hour period to become pregnant. Sperm lives up to three days, sometimes five, so that's why it is okay to have sex every other day.

Morning sex is best, too.

everyone woman is different and it depends on the length and regularity of your cycle...my cycle is 40 days and i ovulate on day 27.  you should ovulate approx 12-16 days before your expected period.  i highly recommend the book "taking charge of your fertility."  it has helped me so much!  it has taught me to chart and really learn about the female reproductive system...so much more than the tiny bit they tell you in school!  congrats on starting your journey!  i have been researching "getting pregnant" since april, but am only on my 3rd cycle ttc.

On a normal 28 day cycle ovulation occurs after 14 days of the date you started you period, so for you it would be to try around the 28th, the days leading up to it and after. But if you wanted to you can buy those ovulation tests to be certain of your individual times
