contractions

So I've heard contractions feel like really bad period cramps and at first it'll feel like you have to poop.. just realized this might be a weird question but I'm curious! Lol I'm scared that it's going to make me feel like I have to poop and I'll just keep trying to go to the bathroom and I won't know that I'm in labor.. is that even possible? It sounds ridiculous I know but I'm just terrified of not making it to the hospital in time. And I'm also worried that if I am actually in labor and don't know it that my bf will be working far from home(an hour or 2 away at most) at the time and will miss the birth.

@momMaggie so did your contractions with your first just feel like braxton hicks? That's what braxton hicks feels like to me.. I'm really just hoping my water breaks so I will know.. I'm sooo nervous not knowing when it'll happen and if I'll know..
Thank you everyone!! :)

I had back Labour so I just kept getting these excruciating pains in my lower back and thighs, I had no tightenings or any pains in my stomach. You only feel like you need to poop when it's time to push, don't worry.

With my first, when I was in labor I didn't think it felt like period cramps or like I had to poop. I actually wasn't sure they were contractions at first because I'd always heard that and that wasn't how I felt. It also didn't hurt at first. It was like the muscles bunched up and pushed down for a few seconds. This time I've had a a lot of braxton hicks and I think they feel like period cramps.  So I'm not sure it feels exactly the same for everyone, but you will definitely know it's labor once they become regular and more painful. And you will most likely have that happen with plenty of time for your bf to get there. If your bf is far away and you start to feel like you are having contractions or what you think might be contractions you can call your doctor or just go to l&d to get checked out. Then you can call him and tell him to head home. Most people have more than 2 hours from the time labor starts to the time you deliver. You also might have a bloody show or have your water break before contractions start. If you have your mucus plug come out with any blood then you'll know labor is coming within a  day or two. That doesn't happen for everyone though. For a lot of people including me it was clear and came weeks ahead so you can't count on it.

That's what happened to me. . At first I didn't know I thought I just had to poop so I kept sitting on the toilet n pushing a Lil came out but it was a constant feeling. Then I finally realized I was in active labor. I felt like my babies head almost coming out lol.  I got to hospital at 9cm dilated n my water broke at 10cm. Then I pushed like 4 times n he was here..

You'll def know when it's time. And the pooping feeling for me was also only at time to push. I would wait to go to the hospital until your water breaks or your contractions are really close together. I was scheduled to be induced with my 1st child and I didn't feel any of the contractions until after they broke my water and I was 5 days passed my due date. Everyone is different but your water breaking is a definite sign of labor. Good luck!
