found it! we finally found a beautiful crib & changing table set on line from cribs.com
it's a da vinci emily II model! it's gorgeous and best of all my in-laws are giving it to us for our christmas present! we are so blessed! I can't wait to order it! :) thansk girls!
I don't know exactly how your dresser looks, but my baby's room is small and we had a nice dresser with a flat top. We were able to create a changing area on top of the dresser. The pad we bought screwed into the dresser and there is plenty of room. It's safe for baby and saved us room and money. I don't know if that would work for you, but it is just a thought....
You could go into a bed store, one of those huge one that sell that actual frames. And buy one in an unpolished or unpainted and go to home depot and tell them you want a honey finish color... You can even bring a drawer from the dresser, for them to match it perfectly.
My dad is big into staining wood, and polishing, and finishing furniture, so he always recommends that we do that if he doesn't make it himself.... which he ended up doing. Every single one of my kids furniture, their twin beds, dresser, toy boxes even chairs are all a dark shade of honey stain...
Plus I believe if you go about doing it that way, it may even be cheaper. And it gives you something to do, when you nesting kicks in.
Just a thought though...
But otherwise, at those big furniture stores, i've seen complete finished cribs, in some beautiful colors... Check those places out. I know here we have a JR Furniture, Sleep Country, Ashley, etc... ton's of fine furniture places. Also, if you have it check Burlington Coat Factory. They have really nice stuff, for extremely cheaper than anywhere else!
i've used the same white jenny lind (sp?) crib for all 3 of my dds... my youngest dd is still in it so our ds is in our room in the crib we got from my parents house until dd is ready for a toddler bed. i know that jenny lind cribs come in different colors (w/ matching changing tables) and they last!
