Hi, I'm 27 weeks and have been having strong BH but about 2 or 3 and only at night. Along with vaginal discomfort. I still have alot of weeks to go, but am scared that since it's my 3rd pregnancy; that the baby will come a lot sooner. I have told my Dr. about it and he recommended a maternity support belt. But I'm still scared and look for signs everyday. Should I not worry about it?
my next appt is on wednesday so i plan to mention it then! thank you for the advice & experience, it helps a lot! :)
If you are concerned that you might go into preterm labor talk to your doctor they have test they can do to see if you are having braxton hicks or actual contractions. you are probably fine , but i would rather be safe than sorry, my first baby was born at 28 weeks and i had been in labor for a few days nd not even known. during subsequent pregnancys I started contracting early (at about 5 months) and was put on contraction supressants and was able to carry to 36 weeks and the next one until 39 weeks. so even if they are legitamate contractions there are things your doctor can do. it is just best to be aware if they are BH or true contractions! Good luck and I'm not trying to scare you, but just share my experience!
BH are VERY normal don't stress! The only time you need to call your doc is if you start having more than 5 or 6 an hour (ask your dr what they think I've heard 5 from some and 6 from others). Good luck!
I didn't know I was having BH contractions until I came in here and somebody told me it would be my stomach getting really hard. So now I know that I've been having them for weeks! They happen a lot and I only notice if I touch my stomach and it's rock hard! I'm 35 weeks now! And I don't think I would mind a week or so early. Hahaha! Good luck!
okay good that makes me feel much better! sometimes i can't tell if what im feeling is the baby rolling or putting her butt in the air or a braxton hicks, other times im confident its a contraction. but if i count all the little tightening feelings i have had more than 4 in an hour before...but its so hard to say whether they were all bh. ah its all so confusing and stressful sometimes.
oh gosh no. BH can definately start that early (mine did at 18 weeks) its just that most woman dont feel them, or thing its the baby moving/rolling most times so they dont really notice lol. im 32 weeks now and theyve actually calmed downa bit. i used to get 10-15 a day! now i just get like 3-8 depending on if im working or home. as long as they dont start become painful and having more than 4 in an hour, there shouldnt be anything to worry about. drinking lots of water and emptying your bladder often really helps as well :) good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. any other questions go ahead and send me a comment/message!
