When I get them I either stretch my foot as far as I can, massage the muscle or sometimes I have to manually move my foot (with my hands) the cramps get so bad that my foot gets stuck in a bad position.  As long as I can move my foot and stretch it, it usually goes away.

The book I have says doctors don't fully understand leg cramps. Charlie horses are thought to be caused by low potassium, but leg cramps during pregnancy aren't always necessarily caused by low potassium. It says to stretch your calves before bed and if you get a cramp flex your foot and rub the leg. It helps, I didn't get them until 27 weeks. They suck. Usually if I feel one coming on I flex my foot and try to relax.

lana, don't just eat bananas.  They have a little potassium  but if you want to get real potassium really quickly,  talk to your doctor about getting more potassium than is in a banana.

Liquid potassium is more available to your system than just a banana.

I get those in the mornings. Hurts so bad I want to scream. Potassium didn't help me any. I think my legs are just tired and swollen.

That's a leg cramp,  likely due to low potassium.   You can call your doctor's office about it - and they can call in a Rx for potassium to your pharmacy if they think it's necessary.

It's common in pregnancy.
