found sac but no foetus at 6 weeks. Is it normal?

I just came back to India on 2nd October after a 2.5 months stay abroad alone for official purposes. my MP is usually regular but sometimes gets postponed. I left on 23rd July, and I had my period due then. But it got postponed and got it finally on July 30th and then on August 29th. After that I havent got my periods till date.
After returning to India over excitement of meeting my husband after a long time, we had an intercourse on 2,3 and 4th October. I finally took the home pregnancy test on the 17th of October, I could see a faint line, I repeated the test after a week and this time got a dark line indicating a positive pregnancy.
I visited  the gynac on the the 1st of November. She asked me to take up the u/s and blood tests and told me that I was just pregnant. after the reports came in, the blood tests indicated normal levels of HCG and the u/s showed a gestational sac of 6 weeks 4 days and a yolk sac but no foetus. And it also showed some spot bleeding around the uterus.
That was last week and now the doctor has asked me to take up one more u/s to make sure things are alright. She did not tell me anything else. I am quite anxious and confused hoping everything is normal. Is this normal?

I had gone yesterday for the u/s. I saw my little one right there in the sac with its heart beating :)
I am very happy. Thanks a lot for your comforting words...

I had an empty sac at 5 weeks, 5 days but when I went back just a week later due to bleeding and spotting, there was peanut with its little heart beating away :D

At such an early gestation, a few days makes the world of difference.
Wait it out and go back :)

Take it easy and don't panic :) xx

i had an empty sac at 6 weeks, its just too soon to see sometimes, at about 7 and a half weeks i seen everything, including the heartbeat. do not worry, baby has a few weeks to grow before doctors may signal alarms so do not panic x
