funeling and shortening cervix/emergency cerclage

I am 17 weeks pregnant and had funneling and shortening of my cervix. Cervical length measured 1.5. My high risk Dr did an emergency cerclage Tuesday. My question is what are my chances of going into preterm labor with the cervical changes, and if I do, how far along do I need to be for a good chance of my baby surviving? Thanks for any and all infomation you can give me as this is all so new!

hey there i actully have a friend who is/was in the same situation as you are and she had it done around 17wks or so and she is now about 33wks pregnant and has had no complications the doctors have just monitored her closly to make sure everything is fine she is delivering her baby though on the 20th i believe and she will only be about 36kws or so...and thats cuz they just dont think the baby can hang in there any longer but if he can they will leave him in there longer.

Well chances r 50/50, of course u want the babies organs 2 b fully developed, a lady on here went preterm at 24 weeks baby died, and another lady @ 24 weeks &baby is n Intensive care. My nephew was born @ about 25-26 weeks, he is 4 now,had like 4-5 surgies b4 he was 4 months. Jus try not to stress 4 we no that is not good 4 baby. I will keep u n my prayers.
