I'm 31 weeks today and jus got diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I'm literally freaking out! I'm so scared and nervous:( a dietician is suppose to call me sometime today to set up an apt. Anyone have any advice on what's to come? And whats gonna happen at this dietician apt?
You will be fine hun. You may be able to control it with diet. The dietician will give you goals and ideas on how to change your diet. They may also give you a glucometer and show you how to properly use it. I have type 2 diabetes and as long as I am not pregnant I can control it with diet alone. If you have any questions you can email me on here. Also when I am pregnant I am insulin dependant but everyone is different
I have GD lucky enough controlled by diet it can be tough at start but u get used to it. I only had to teat blood once a day at different points to make sure im controlling it.they will monitor baby more often and likely offer u an induction between 38-40 weeks . Im being induced tomorrow at 38+2 good luck
Thanks ladies:) I'm just really stressing out about this:( I dont think my sugars were too too high so I'm praying I can control it with a diet. ..cause I'm deathly afraid of needles and almost pass out everytime they draw blood so I dont know how I could do insulin!!
