I had GD with my first baby and have my test for this one next week. I know that I am going to fail because I can tell by the taste in my mouth. I had to do insulin shots 3 times a day. Also report my levels to the anchronoligist. They were on my to call in my levels twice a week. And take my sugar like 5 times a day. If you do not get it under control by the time the baby is born, the baby could have very low blood sugar. Meaning due to the Mother producing enough for both, the baby's pancreas does not have to work. My son had it but it kicked in within a few hours. Also, GD can also cause preclamsia (spelling). This is highly dangerous for Mom and baby. Good luck and best wishes! It is no fun for sure :(
I have GD also and have to monitor my blood 4 times a day & it's always in normal range! It could have been something you ate or drank the night before also. @SammieSweetieTart do you know why you are having a c-section??
Calm down I had have it done early I failed the first one but passed the second. Just stay and calm it will go find
I'm GD! I'm 16 weeks and I'm only on diet control and monitoring my sugar.
Trust me gd is easy. It goes away. Try having type 1 before during an after baby. Thats when ya gotta worry a lot. Just watch what you eat dont eat too many sweets right now. Make sure you exercise even just a 20minute walk in the evening helps a lot. Try to stay away from sodas too. The carbohydrates and sugars raise blood sugars a lot with gd and diabetes in general. Just try to think healthy and eat healthy and you should be fine
It really is only dangerous if you choose to ignore the fact that your body is in hormone crazy town and it may need help! It can lead to big babies, but it all depends on you and your body and which treatment they give you. I also have to test for ketones and have been having trouble with it and it can be treated with insulin or diet change thankfully since my numbers are within range(give or take 2) my doctor said they will probably add food! Woohoo more to eat lol what preggo doesn't love that???
I was just diagnosed with GD and am currently on a diet and monitoring my blood sugar. I hardly failed the 3 hour test and the frustrating thing is my blood sugar levels have all been good! It was sooo overwhelming for me when they informed me of what I will be doing for the rest of my pregnancy(having a c section in 4 weeks) but it really isn't that bad! You can still eat whatever you want you just have to beore cautious! And just a tip to lower your blood sugar you can drink water and walk around or exercise.
I took my three hour las friday so im waiting on my results which I thiught would have been back but she went through the process with me if I did fail my three hour so I would be prepared. So just waiting now. And my aunt had it a year go it was hard for her cause she didnt really control what she ate but for my mom a couple years back she did just fine her there baby's were born either on time or slightly early
Thank you myaugbaby22. Have you had it? Was it had to manage?
They will send to a nutritionists. Depending on how high it is they'll either put u on insulin worse case scenario or they will have u monitor and right down your sugar every time u eat and review it at your appointments. With most women with GD they watch for the growth of ur child because they can become large babies. But all and all its not horrible. The three hour is more accurate u may not even fail so dont worry yet.
Please answer! Worried about my lil one..
I'm not sure but I wouldn't mind knowing
