glucose test

i have my glucose test on wednesday - is there anything i should or shouldnt eat? should i fast?

Some docs just don't do it for whatever reason,.  I've had to have several of mine done at the lab.  This pregnancy and last pregnancy are the only two where it was done in the docs office.  When he gives you the prescription he will give you all the information you need.  Good luck.  Just remember even if you DO fail the 1 hr it doesn't mean much of anything, the 3 hr will give a better idea. Hopefully you won't have to do that one tho.

thank you ladies - i called my doctors office and i guess he will be giving me the prescription on wednesday to go to the lab and have it done. im not sure why they dont do it in his office. so i guess ill be able to ask him about it on wednesday.

the fasting depends on your doc.  I've done the 1 hr where i was told eating and drinking were fine, but I've done it where I was told not to eat or drink anything after waking up that morning.  This time my doc has said to not eat or drink becuase I have failed all of my 1 hrs in the past and though i always pass the 3 hr it was borderline with my last pregnancy.  Just don't go crazy with sugary foods for the next few days.

I had mine done at 26 weeks, my doctor said I could have some toast or something light in the morning.  Although, a couple days before I cut out my desserts...lol... like that was going to help me pass haha.  My results came back the next day clear.  Also, just a warning that sugary drink made me feel weird all day.

yeah I'm supposed to fast completely after midnight the day I go for mine...so I would call and ask your doc. I should have already done mine but we were out of town for a family emergency so I'm going in tomorrow I think to do it.

i think it depends on the doctor..did they tell you? my doctor told me that i could eat just nothing sugary. but other people's doctors have told them to eat whatever they want. you should call and ask...you don't wanna fail the 1 hr test cause then you have to come back for the 3 hr.
