has anyone been itchy while pregnant

hi everyone i have a problem for the past 5 or 6 weeks i have been itching quite alot im not sure its anything to do with my pregnancy i never had it with my other kids but i have heard some women have a rash which is very itchy while pregnant but i dont know its getting to the point my leg is starting to bleed because its that itchy i have been itchy on my stomach to which is now left with scratch marks has anyone else had this if not should i see my dr about it i just dont want to make a fussn over nothing please help

Seeing as it was pretty early in the pregnancy I would say just bring it up with your doctor and see what they say. I started getting real bad itching about 2 weeks ago so bad that i break blood vessels on my tummy and scratch it raw but I found out that I have pupps. That doesnt show up until the third trimester. Im about 39 weeks along now.
Hopefully its just the stretching and nothing serious. Lots of lotion and maybe applying a cold towel every now and then might help.

I'm 14 weeks an 6 days an my belly iches so bad.  I had to buy co-co butter an it really helped.  Its normal... its just a pain in the a#s lol.

It can be related to elevated liver enzymes.  It's rare, but possible it is intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP).  I'd ask you doctor about it, an instructor of mine had it in her pregnancy - - she'd itch herself until she bled, it started around 6 weeks, and lasted til delivery.

It is so common to be ichy & to have dry skin during pregnancy.

As long as you use moisturizing lotion, like two times a day you'll be good!  I used Aveeno 24 hour moisturizer, and only aplly after I get out of the shower and it helps 24 hours lol...  But if it does start to itch later in the day, just apply some more!  

I bet you will notice though, in the next week or so your stomach will pop out more!  :)

I would definitely tell your doctor about it.  You might be itching because your skin is stretching, or it could be due to a liver disorder (that only occurs during pregnancy). It can potentially be very serious or in extreme cases - fatal.  

I was actually wondering this same thing this morning (not sure if I am prego or not though).  Google pregnancy and itching and you'll learn more about the serious side of it.  I'm not saying this to scare you, but it is just a heads up that (hopefully it won't be) more serious.

thanks everyone i just needed to know if it was anything to do with my pregnancy its just really annoying its worse when i come out a bath because my skin is wet and all i want to do is scratch it but when i do it bleeds my stomach isn't as bad as my legs but now i know what to do im hoping when i get cream it will stop itching so much thank you again everyone

Oh and for your stomach put coco butter on religiously.  it has kept mine from itching.  I put it on really thick twice a day.  from my boobs to my butt and thighs.  it has helped so much!!

I had that problem also.  At the beginning of my pregnancy right around the point you are at, my outside of my arms and the outside part of my thighs itched like CRAZY!!!  Oh it was so uncomfortable!!!  The condition accures sometimes in pregnancy.  I cant remember what it is called, but it starts with a C and it is nothing to worry about.  My doc said to get some kind of anti-itch cream I cant remember what kind was safe.  I would ask your doc.  And in the mean time use some good lotion like lubriderm.  It ***** but it isnt anything to major.

usually from the skin stretching but if its causing your legs to bleed call your doc!!

Oh yes, I was completely itchy at about 32 weeks.  I used an anti-itching lotion.  Make sure it's safe during pregnancy, I used Curel.  Good news is, it didn't last long and eventually the itching went away.  It was horrible.
