heartburn really bad. please help...

Finally broke down and bought Tums. I've taken it one before this evening. this evening about an hour ago I took 1 500Mg Tums. That worked perfect last time but right now it didn't even feel like I've taken any. Sitting up trying to sleep isn't working this time either. I'm so miserable. Can I take another Tums?

Sugar free gum helps since it causes you to salivate more which in turn you essentially "push" the acid down. I read it in an expecting magazine and its worked everytime I needed it to. :)

If nothing calms it, I'd call your doctor and let them know. I thought I had a serious case of hb but after getting zero relief from anything my doc told me to go to the hp. Turned out it wasn't hb at all, but a gallbladder issue instead which is apparently very common with pregnant women.

I had heartburn all day everyday to the point that most nights I was in tears  because of the pain, my dr told me to take 1 pepcid ac EVERYDAY, I am 37 weeks and I haven't had heartburn since 30w!!! It's a life saver and safe in pregnancy :)

Sorry to be a pain but I've read baking soda isn't good whilst pregnant as its full of sodium which can cause high blood pressure. Have you tries gaviscon cool tablets?
