Tums and milk won't really solve the problem it actually softens the esophagus and makes it worse, especially before bed when you lay down.
I'm high risk as well its up to your doc all say something different I was just sharing what said to me...... But in all honesty any medication can be harmful each person is different, if you can get away with drinking milk or the celery trick try that
hi!
so when i was pregnant i had heartburn and then i did the glucose test and they thoughts i might as well eat the diabetic diet just in case. so i followed it and something interesting happened. they don't suggest you drink with your meal. like if you are gonna have a liquid its best to drink it after or before you eat, but not while you eat. so i avoided liquids with my meals and it was like magic, heartburn was gone! i had it until week 20 and then suddenly i had 20 weeks of no heartburn. it was pretty amazing.
anyway, you could give not drinking liquids with your meal. perhaps that will help.
best of luck!
I go to a high risk dr and tums are completely fine :)
Sometimes when you are sleeping the heartburn will get worse because you are lying flat. It can help to sleep inclined, put some pillows behind your back. Tums have been a life saver for me. I have not heard anything about them being bad for the baby, and from what I know have been on the safe to take list for a long time.
Also, celery works too! My brother swears buy it & I was at a restaurant with no other options so I tried it (someone had to order a Caesar to get some!) and surprisingly it worked :-)
Agree with melak2012 best investment since I've been pregnant doc prescribed it you can get the generic at Wal-Mart in the states 30pills $4 works the same and saves you money my doc said tums isn't good for the baby......
you should go and buy Zantac 75mg trust me it really helps with heartburn. take one in the morning and take one before you go to bed
Teaspoon of bicarb in a glass of water, it a nutraliser, usually u will feel better after u burp!
Drink some milk. It will coat ur stomache. Also when u can, get tums, they work great and as soon as belly and baby get bigger, unfortunately heartburn will get worse.
