herpes and pregnancy

When I was a few years younger, I had a boyfriendfor over  year that gave me herpes (always forget what type but it's the kind that are usually cold sores on your.face). My doctor says it won't be a problem with the birth as long as I take a suppression treatment (valtrex, or generic for about a month prior to due date once a day). My fiancée is still extremely worried that in the 1% chance he could get the virus during birth he will, and I don't think the doctor would steer us wrong but he is worrying me now. He thinks a c section isthe right choice. Is it selfish of me to not want to do the surgery? I honestly feel everything will be okay. Any other ladies in this situation or have been in the past?

I shouldn't worry. I thought I got herpes when I was 19 and for the past 5 years no out break. It was one phase one. Which goes away after proper ontmoent applied to It. As long as you.don't have an out break you should be out. My bf who I have Been with for three Yeats who I have unprotected sex with he never got it. If its phase one it's like a cold sore on ur mouth once it goes away hardly shows up again.

I believe your doctor is right. From what I ha e heard, a vaginal birth is perfectly fine as long as you take the medicine he gives you exactly as instructed. When the baby is born, they will put a gel-medication on the eyes because STDs can increase the chance for blindness in the baby during vaginal birth, as well as cause other infections.

If you don't have any active infection you can deliver natural but c section is the safest. You should be on meds to keep the baby safe while pregnant

that's herpes type 1 but I've never heard that it could be passed during birth unless u have herpes in ur genitals.. Bcz the risk of herpes being passed would be if ure having a breakout during birth then even the docters would do a csection
