hips hurt

Hello all! I was just wondering if it's normal for hips to hurt? I'm 26w4d and every time I walk or turn in bed, my hips hurt bad! My husband said it looks like my hips have gotten a little wider. Thanks!

I was at prenatal class last night and the teacher is making each of the partners carry a 35lbs Backpack on their chests to show what we women are going through.  and they have to do all the hip stretching exercises with us... its so funny to watch.

You realese some sort of hormone that helps your joints to loosen to get your body prepared to have a baby, and yes this includes your hips widdening. The down side is it will affect all joints, which is why we tend to get clumsy. It is not uncommon to get hip pain not only from this but also from the fact that you are carrying around extra weight and from sleeping on your sides all the time vs. sleeping stomach and back also. if you are having a lot of pain then yes tylenol and things can help, I often find that if I get myself moving the pain will lessen. Good Luck!!

Unfortunately your tummy and muscles aren't the only thing that have to prepare for child birth. My hurt sooo bad with my first, hasn't happened yet with this pregnancy but I'm sure it's coming!!

This is normal - painful!! - but usually normal.  I had the same issue when I was pregnant with my son.  I found tylenol, heating pads and sleeping with a pillow between my knees to help a lot.

I believe this is caused by your ligaments getting soft and preparing for childbirth.  So in the long run, it's a good thing!

If you haven't do so already, mention it to your doctor.  They may have other recomendations for you.  Good luck!
