horrible morning sickness...

I've been experiencing really bad morning sickness, or all day sickness. I'm only 11 weeks pregnant.. I haven't been in to see a doctor yet because I've been trying to get medical insurance.. I've been to the hospital twice in the last month to get fluids, I've been to the point of not being able to keep anything down, solids or liquids.. I've started to become a little more concerned because the last couple days I've been vomiting and there's been some blood in the vomit.. I tend to get really shaky and weak after I get sick, I just don't have energy and feel I'm only getting worse... The doctors at the hospital have only told me my potassium levels have been low.. anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I've tried saltine crackers, soup and sprite like drinks. I'm getting desperate for and answer.. any input is very appreciated! Thank you.

I have not tried lemon juice in the water or peppermints yet, I will for sure look into that as well as the wrist band tomorrow. I haven't had anything to eat today, everytime I've had a drink of anything its come back up so tomorrow ill be checking into my medical ins again and possible going to er if things don't get better. Thank you all for the advice!! I really appreciate it.

have you tried lemon juice in your water or peppermints to suck on yet? i was really bad also and within a few days of peppermints i was able to eat breakfast. once i got some strength back i was able to eat breakfast lunch and dinner using the mints. i also have the nausea wrist bands on all the time. they were ten bucks at the pharmacy and the mints were 3 bucks. you could also try the B.R.A.T diet for a ilttle bit. Bananas, Rice, Apple sauce and Toast. i always just see the R as crackers or carbs. you can try broths too. it takes a few days for your body to adjust so just go easy and give yourself time to heal.
personally this sounds really serious and i would say talking to a doctor would be my first option.
hope you feel better soon, 12 weeks is coming up soon, hopefully it will be the finish line for you.

At my store (Wal-Mart and Kroger) it's in the pharmacy department, near diet stuff. It's like a shake sort of thing, comes in chocolate, vanilla and I think another type.

Right now just worry about keeping fluids down and then you can worry about what it is later. If its sprite drink sprite. Try to avoid anything greasy or fried, it could make you much sicker. You can also try drinking Ensure to see if you can keep that down too, it will help get you some of the nutrients you're missing.

I waited about 10 mins before eating, I've been trying to eat different things, soup, chicken, port of subs (subway) pasta, pizza, cereal, saltines.. everything and it all still makes me sick. I had strawberries one day and I was able to keep them down but everything else either makes me sick right after I eat it or I'm able to relax for 1-2 hours then get sick. I feel like water makes me sicker faster, I try to drink as much water as I can but I've been switching to sprite like drinks cause it seems a little easier to keep down.

How long did you wait before eating? With my daughter I was extremely ill with HG and had non-stop vomiting my entire pregnancy - for me, food made me 10x sicker and I was lucky to eat once a day or every other day. Also, what are you eating? Are there times when you feel better than others?

The zofran was helping a little but I had them change me to the other pill because I couldn't afford a 90$ prescription anymore. The other pill you mentioned is the one I just started.. I took one last night before eating dinner and still ended up sick after eating. My food doesn't even have time to digest, I eat then have to run straight to the restroom.

You shouldn't have to pay the ER bill immediately, and if you don't have insurance there are various things you can qualify for to help with the payment and cost. Is the medication helping at all?

It's bright red blood, but only a little bit when I get sick. I've been to the er twice telling them what's going on and they've given me an iv with fluids and takes blood. My potassium level was low both times, they prescribed me some potassium pills and the zofran. This last time it was potassium and low blood pressure. I had them prescribe me the phenergan this second time. Ive tried to set up a doctors apt with an obgyn, baby doctor but they said they couldn't see me because I had no insurance yet. I don't know what else to do, I can't afford to go into the er for a 3rd time with no insurance. I feel like I'm stuck.

Bright red blood is likely from open sores in your stomach and throat from frequent vomiting. Brown blood though means its been in your stomach longer, and could be from other areas (or still in your stomach) Either way, neither are healthy. Frequent vomiting such as you are can easily lead to dehydration, which is very dangerous while pregnant. You need anti-nausea medication, such as Phenergan or Zofran. (the two most prescribed ones) Go back to the ER or any clinic and explain it and tell them you are unable to hold fluids down.

I was like that when i was pregnant with my daughter. My doctor priscribed zofran to help with the vomiting. U should eat even if u throw up right after, the blood is in ur vomit because u don't really have any food in ur stomach. Try seltzer water or dry cereal that helped me a little
