The one i used was contraction timer lite, it was free, you just hit the start button when you felt one come then stop when it stopped. Contractions are timed from START of one contraction until the START of the next one, not from when it stops til it starts x

I have an app on my phone that all you have to do is press a button to start and stop the timer and it keeps up with how far apart they are, how long they last, and how many you have had

keep doing that until you can grasp a basis of how frequently you're having them and if they are getting stronger or closer together and not slowing down. Also if you have more than five-six in an hour call your doctor to give them a heads up.

You can basically start timing from the second you start to feel one until it ends, write it down, then time how long it takes until the next one.
