hydrocodone. . worried mommy!!

So i had emergency surgery the other night about a week ago. My placenta was smushing and collapsing my urethra tubes. For the unbearable pain my surgen has prescribed me hydrocodone. Every 4-6 hours as needed.
Im a little worried. When i was pregnant with my first daughter they gave me Percocet. Which scared me tk but they said its ont of the safest "narcotics" to take during pregnancy.
Has anyone else had to take pain meds during pregnancy? Any bad out comes?
Please km so worried im makinh myself sick to the though of it!

You should be okay! Your doctor knows you're pregnant and wouldn't prescribe anything dangerous for you or baby. In my first trimester I had herniated discs in my spine and they gave me hydrocodone. I was scared and only took 4 out of the bottle (I had a previous miscarriage at 13weeks), but now I'm wishing I would have taken them...they would have helped a LOT with pain!

I had to take hydrocodone with two of my pregnancies. The first time I had gallstones and dr put me on it to get to delivery date but I stopped a week before. Baby had no ill effects from it. And my most recent pregnancy, I was on it from 35-38 weeks due to kidney stones. Baby is five days old and has no problems from it. My dr said the Tylenol is the only thing that passes through the placenta, not the narcotic.

Hydrocodone and percocet are the same thing. Percocet is just stronger. The only worry they have with either of those drugs during pregnancy is that baby will have withdrawals when born. But if the benefits outweigh the risk then I wouldn't be worried.

Oh and I did read that it's important to stop using them before I think 32 weeks as the baby can be born with withdrawals.

They wouldn't prescribe you anything unsafe for the baby! Just make sure you follow the instructions given and as long as you don't overdose your baby will be fine.

I haf surgery a couple weeks ago and was on morphine and hydrocodone.  Also, I was prescribed hydrocodone. A doctor wouldn't prescribe you something that could harm your baby. My baby is perfectly fine and healthy! Don't fret! :)

It should be fine. The withdrawal from the baby is what I would worry about but if you are just taking it for a little while you should be fine.

They wouldnt prescribe anything to you that would harm your child. They know you're pregnant. I know its so hard not to worry about every little thing! This is my third pregnancy and I think i worry more now then i did with my first two lol
