i should be 9 weeks pregnant in scan i am 7 weeks pregnant

Hi,
I am pregnant. my first date of the last period date is 12th august 08. Accordingly i should be 9 weeks pregnant, in scan i am 7 weeks pregnant. This is my first baby. Doctor said that heart beat of baby is good.she has given me tablets and asked me to come after 2 weeks.
My question is 1. is this a serious problem.
                       2. is it quite normal in all women.
                       3. any harm to baby to under go untrasould scan often.

when I went to the doctor for an ultrasound my nurse told me I was 10 weeks along, but my babys fetal development was at 8 weeks. what does that mean? so when I look at any pregnancy app or any pregnancy website do I look at the 10 weeks to see what my baby should look like or the 8 weeks?

Hi, going off my last regular period I would be 13 weeks preg but scan showed the measurements of 8 weeks. I had a small light bleed that lasted 3 days about 8 weeks ago so now waiting to have a more detailed scan next week. Baby has a strong heartbeat. Usually my period lasts for 5-7 days

Could a 13 week scan be 8 weeks wrong?? i cheated on my boyf in july i had periods in between finding out  i was pregnant in Nov, so i hopefully conceived in Oct, but people can get periods whilst pregnant, i wish i had never cheated, the guy i cheated with wore a condom but there is still a chance, i think its just my guilt making me feel this way but does anyone think i could be 20 weeks pregnant instead of 13?

Just reading through the comments that say... ''according to LMP I'm 7 weeks but scan shows I'm 5 weeks how can that be possible?'' etc, If you think about it properly, you count your weeks of pregnancy from the 1st day of your last period right....? However you aren't actually pregnant in this space of time are you, you are bleeding during week 1, week 2 your body is preparing to ovulate, some time at the end of week 2/beginning of week 3, you ovulate, and you become pregant.(depending on your cycle) So around 2 weeks out of those 7 weeks you aren't pregnant, so obviously your scan will show a development/gestation of 5 weeks ish if you think you are 7 weeks pregnant. So many people are worrying about this but its just a case of thinking about your cycle properly...

They can get the scan wrong. Find out on the dating scan using around 12-13 weeks they measure the beby.  Going by my LMP my due date was 19 July.My dating scan has confirmed that my due date is 23 july, so not a major difference. Hope that helps but no one knows there body better than themselves. x

Hi, just wondering how everything turned out for you.  I am in the exact same situation.  According to positive pregnancy test both urine and blood and my LMP I should be 9 weeks pregnant. I had my first u/s today and it showed 6 wks.  I do not how this can possibly be.  Any advice or info you can share would be great. Thanks

i went back for my second scan, and as the nurse was right that sometimes the dates can be wrong, on the scan the fetus is 7 weeks.  Now im just waiting for my 12 week scan.  i have stopped spotting now but i did spot for 4/5 weeks, i even passed 2 large blood clots but the scan showed me that the baby was there with a heartbeat.  sometimes i wish i never found out i was pregnant so early but i'm almost at the end of the first timester and i cant wait to start enjoying pregnancy.....

I went for my first visit when i thought i should be 10 weeks because my last period was on August 1st.  When i had the ultrasound they said that i was 7 weeks and my last period must have been August 19th....I haven't had anymore ultrasounds since, i guess i will get one on my 20 weeks.....I was wondering how many this happens to........why did they give you tablets?  So now i don't know if i will deliver the first of May or the end of May.....it is frustrating not knowing really how far along i am.

hi i went for a scan today and i thought i was 7 weeks pregnant but the scan showed that im less than 4 weeks pregnant, which is hard to believe.  i cant help but think that the baby isn't growing, the nurse said that sometimes the scan can be wrong.  i had a miscarriage in july and 2 days ago i started spotting just like before.  i have to wait 2 weeks for the next scan and hopefully then they can tell me what is going on.

Hi,

First of all I hope your pregnancy goes wonderfully and that it all turns out for the best!  I have known many people who have had to have several scans early on and this has never seemed to pose a threat to the baby.  Also, how sure are you on your dates?  They say that all women ovulate at different times and you could have ovulated later than you thought.
I am in a similar situation in that my LMP was August 13th.  That makes me 8 weeks and 6 days today.  I had my first transvaginal scan today and the tech said she couldn't see a heart beat, only an "irregular flutter" that really confirms nothing.  She also said my baby is measuring 7 weeks.  I just don't get it cause I am sure on my dates and can't see any possible way that I could be 2 weeks later.  She said that I should go to the ER if bleeding begins (which I think she was trying to say that it will)  If not, I have another scan next week to see if there has been any growth...  This is a terrible waiting game!  Has anyone been in my situation before?  Has it ever turned out positive?  Good luck with everything!

i had the same thing happen to me i had scan at 7 weeks but the scan showed i was only 5 weeks i had to go back 2 weeks later at 7 weeks as there was no heartbeat on the 5 week scan as i would have been to early.  i then had to go back 3 weeks later at 10 weeks to make sure that the feotus was growing. I had 3 scans before i was 12 weeks and i was given 3 different dates which was very confusing. when you have your 12 week scan they will tell you when your due date is so i would wait till then and work back to the date you ovulated, some woman ovulate later then they think like me i ovulated late. my last periof was 28th june but i didnt ovulate till 16th july. I wouldny worry.  The only reason i had a few scans before 12 weeks is because i had had 1 previous miscariage.   good luck
