Proudmama, I had one for over 5years loved it. When I changed to the nuva ring I got prego.  Am prego now but plan to get it after this baby again. U have to wait the 6 wks and then the doc will be able to put it in. My doc told me that they have to wait for the bleeding and swelling to go down.

I didn't have a great experience with the implanon initially. For the first 6 months I bled every day and had PMS symptoms. Would get angry for no reason and randomly break down in tears. That was also my first 6months of marriage having had implant 2 weeks before wedding so not ideal and fortunately husband was very patient and understanding. Had to take 3 norethistherone each day to stop the bleeding. Did settle down eventually and moods improved. I had it removed after 18 months to TTC. Pregnant 3 months later so no long term impact on fertility.

For me, I actually conceived just 2 days after it was removed and it had been in almost the full 3 years.

I had it in 2008 for 3 months. I bled the entire time it was in and gained 30 pounds. I went from being 109 to 140 pounds. I broke out all over my face, neck, and back and I had never had acne that bad. I know it's probably not the norm to have such a bad experience, but I couldn't get that sucker out fast enough! Then when I got married several months later and started ttc, I ended up going on fertility drugs because I had totally stopped having periods after having it removed.

I had it and loved it! My cycle was out of wack for about the first two months but then got pretty well straightened out. My periods were pretty light and cramping was far less than it had been. Some months only very light spotting.  I plan to have one put back in as soon as I can after baby is born.
