induction tomorrow

I am very very excited to meet my little princess.

I am 41w1d and this pregnancy I have tried to make the best decisions for my baby. This has proven to be difficult as I have GBS and my baby has not dropped yet. I did not want to be induced at all but my next chance for scheduling would be next friday and i would be at 42w2d, and i dont want to wait that long either.   I am going in at 6am to get my antibiotics and start pitocin. I am assuming I will get manually checked when i get there as I have no idea if im dilated, effaced or what station the baby is in. I also want to try to get an u/s so i can know what position the baby is in, and i really want to know where the cord is. The only thing i do know is that my doctor said she is not low. I denied cervical exams and cervidil as i have an increased chance of infection because of the gbs, so i am really hoping the pitocin will be able to help me progress and get my baby to drop. I also want to refuse artificial rupture of membranes because my baby is so high still and I know that would put her at risk of a prolaped cord.

I know that it must sound like I worry too much, I just like to be informed and want to make the best decisions for my baby.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

Good luck hon...I don't ahve any advice about the "not dropped" or "GBS" things but I did get induced and I think you were reading my induction story so you know that it went well and everything was beautiful (so just remember that not all inductions are scary inductions)...here's hoping it's the same for you! can't wait to hear an update tomorrow of you holding your little one!

Good luck and it will all be worth it when you baby is in your arms.  You will be fine and they will monitor you closely.  Can't wait to hear how everything went.

I replied to a previous post of yours and told you that I've had 2 inductions due to being late - went to 41 weeks both times.  Neither of my sons ever dropped and I didn't have any cervical change or dilation.  They used Cervidl to ripen my cervix the first time and a Cook's catheter the second time - but I didn't have GBS either time, though, so I was just like "ok, whatever....just do what you need to do" lol.  My water was broken for me both times without complcations.

Just try to relax and go with the flow, so to speak - your labour will be a much more pleasant one if you just take it as it comes, having as little expectations as possible - other than a happy, healthy baby :)  Trust that the doctors and nurses are going do their best for you and your baby - because they will, that's their job :)

All the best....I can't wait to hear your birth story!!!

i had to use pitocin with both of my children and everything went well...i was induced with my son 6 years ago because my water broke and labor never started....he was already 5 days late so it wasn't like my last birth of my daughter who was 8 weeks early because my water broke again

do not be scared and try to relax...you will be in the best place and they will notice if your baby is in distress....

best of luck to you and CONGRATS momma!!! tomorrow is your big day :)

You'll be fine.  Just try to relax, especially when you get there.  Your nerves are gonna be jittery so make sure to bring things to keep you calm.

I only wish I was in your position with having an induction date.  This kid still isn't doing anything and on top of everything else I think I had thrush...my tongue hurts, I have this filmy feeling in my mouth and white spots on my tongue.  My next check up is tomorrow but i'm going in today to see my doc about the thrush.  The last thing I want is to give birth and immediately give it to her.  I'm going to flat out ask about induction today.  Tomorrow is my due date so...

good luck tomorrow, I hope to see updates from you along the way.  Can't wait to see pics of your little girl :)
