I didn't know i had the choice to say yes or no....i thought they just made you??
I wouldnt agree to an induction unless there was something wrong with the baby. Theres no need otherwise
I hope if i do have to be induced everything goes smoothly lol im a FTM and stressing about everything lol not sure what to expect you know?
1 cm at 39 weeks is normal. Completely closed would even be normal. I had a friend who walked around for THREE WEEKS at 7 cm. Not quite average but dilation or lack of dilation doesn't predict how long it will be until labor starts. The cervix is not a clock.
Most induction horror stories boil down to two things. Either mom wasn't ready to go into labor (there are a lot of factors outside dilation that play into this, including oxytocin receptors being activated late in pregnancy) or the L&D has been made into a c-section assembly line (a la "Pit To Distress"). Possibly even both. The best way to avoid a nightmare induction is to wait as long as possible and/or not get induced.
I was induced with my son and it went great! I didn't have an epneural by choice, so it was more painful then my first labor (which I went into naturally with) but it wasn't bad at all. Started the pit at 9 am and had by boy at 3 pm. You still have plenty of time to have your baby naturally tho. A lot can change in one week! Good luck!
