is it safe?

i am 23 years old and i am 36 weeks pregnant with my second child. on fathers day i had a really bad bladder infection and it caused my uterus to start contracting. i dialated 1 cm and the dr said it was brought on from my bladder infection. so i got some antibiotics and my labour stopped. so now i am stuck dialated 1 cm till my baby wants to come. i wanna do stuff to induce labour on my own but the dr is concerned about how he would gain weight.  but i know alot of women who had there babys that early and had healthy babies.

Medical expenses for a premature baby are HUGE and if they cant latch properly then you have to buy formula which is SO expensive. Try and stick it out. In the long run it will be cheaper.

Having a baby at 36 weeks could result in the baby needing to stay in the NICU, which is a HUGE expense and a major stressor. Your baby will come when he is ready, please do not try to force the issue for your safety and his. Many women are dilated 1-2cm or even more for several weeks before delivering, this is completely normal. I guess I also struggle to see how him getting here earlier will improve your fiances unless it has something to do with government assistance, which is none of my business.

I still don't understand how having the baby will improve your money situation?  When the baby gets here it will be much more expensive than leaving it put!

Im dilated to 2 cm and 60% effaced and my doctor has me on strict bed rest. In no way does she want the baby to be born even at 36 weeks because the baby isnt ready. I was given steriods to help mature her lungs if she was to be born early and still it is too much of a risk. If you are concerned about money having your baby is going to be more expensive than having her stay put.

You can try and try to induce labor but if your body isn't ready it won't work. I've been dilated to a 4 and 60% effaced for almost 3 weeks now. Sex once a week and walking a LOT everyday hasn't done anything....obviously baby isn't ready yet.

If you aren't having contractions and the only reason you dilated in the 1st place was due to infection, most likely nothing you try will send you into labor (until your body is ready).

thank you for the advice. i know all that but we are not rich ppl and if we run out of money there is nothing we can do but go home. i am confused cuz i dont know if i should listen to my dr or every1 else. my dr says if i have my baby the lungs arent a worry to her. she said baby would be very healthy. especially healthy after 38 weeks. but i bet alot of women have ppl to help them. nobody helps me out when i need help. not my mom or dad not even my mans mom or dad. so we are practically on our own with a 1 yr old we have to provide for. my mans band got the health canada to send me money but the money was only meant for me and not my man so we are trying to live off money meant for 1 person. so i wouldnt be concerned about everything if health canada sent us more money to live off for 3 weeks

In my opinon the money issue should not outweigh your childs health and saftey.  Yes, some women have babies at 36-37 weeks that are perfectly healthy, but for other women, the babies born then have had respiratory distress among other things.

As for the dialation, it's really no big deal.  Woman have dialated to 2 and 3 cms at 30 weeks and had no issues, going on to deliver at term (around 40 weeks)

It's best to let your baby decide when s/he is ready to be born, otherwise you increase the risk that baby will have to stay in the NICU for anywhere from a day or two to a few weeks.

It's ultimately your decision but I would not advise doing anything out of the ordinary to bring on labor at this point.

i dont wanna be pregnant for another 4 weeks while i am 1 cm dialated. it s frusrating cuz we dont have much money. we need more boy clothes and pampers and the money we have while staying our hotel room which is been paid by my mans band. but we need our money for food but need baby stuff still. my family and his family dont help with nothing. just my grandma helps with money and pampers once and a while. so i wanna make things easier and have baby soon. my delivery dr says she not concerned about babys lungs. just his ability to latch properly

Is there a reason you want to induce labor? Induction is not recommended until after 39 weeks. There is rumor that they want to change the time when pregnancy is considered full term tol 38 or 39 weeks because there are so many preterm babies being born and even babies at 37 weeks can have respiratory issues.

Go visit the March of Dimes website and I'm sure you'll find waiting until your baby decides they are ready to be born is the wisest decision.

Due to the fact that pregnancy is also an estimation (which can be off by as much as 2 weeks) the safest thing is for your baby to come when they are ready and to avoid induction. Good luck to you AND your baby.

37 weeks is considered full term however pregnancy is 40 weeks for a reason. It best not to bring on labor early. Just because you know someone with a healthy baby that was early doesn't mean your little one will be. You never know how mature there lungs are at this stage.
