kidney infection

So I went to the doctor today thinking I had a utility.  After I hot back home I realized that my kidneys hurt and my abdomen is tender.  Will they be able to tell if its a kidney infection instead of a uti  by a urinalysis and cultures or should I calm them back in the morning?  The nurse said it'll take up to 48 he's for the results.

I'm not sure yet. She didn't say much over the phone. Hopefully an ultrasound cuz I wanna see my baby. My first ultrasound was at 8 weeks so it was to soon to hear the heart beat. I'll keep you all posted.

Try not to worry. What hurts or bothers us doesn't often do anything to baby.  Many women get kidney stones while pregnant, some even have surgery for them during pregnancy. Are you have an MRI done or ultrasound?

I called the Dr back today and they found some blood in my urine. They want me to come in at 1130. She thinks it might be kidney stones :( I've heard they're horrible. I just wanna know what's wrong. I don't want my baby to be affected by this.

I think I'll call them when they open. I would rather be safe then sorry.  Its just so uncomfortable, I wish I didn't have to wait til the morning. Luckily I don't have severe symptoms like vomiting and fever and all that horrible stuff.  Thanks ladies for your thoughts.

I call back. I am currently taking Meds for my UTI now. I went to L&D cuz I was hurting so bad. They did a urine sample first and said they wanted to do other testing so they were treating what they needed to. So to make it more accurate they did a quick in out cath. I had a UTI and Im on meds for 7 says and this is my second day of being on my meds and Im so much better. Depending on what they tell you that you have it could effect baby. Not in all cases though.. Its best to get check.. Good Luck.

It shouldn't. It's only when they get really bad it becomes an issue, because of the spread of infection. I had one almost 2 years ago and had no idea - no symptoms or anything. I just started vomiting severely one night. After 3 days of it I was admitted into the hospital for a week because it had spread to my liver and pancreas as well and I was really sick. Found out I had carried it for 3 months because my surgeon was an idiot.

I wouldn't worry too much, wait to see what your results say first. If you'd rather know sooner you can go buy OTC UTI test strips and take one. They show results in 2 minutes and are fairly accurate.

Thanks. I figured it was about the same. I worried I caught it to late. I  had a mc last July  and I'm super worried about everything. I'm 12 weeks and I hope this doesn't effect the baby. Ugh. Can't stop worrying

No, because its all pretty much the same. A kidney infection is just the result of an untreated bladder infection. I had a kidney infection two years ago and it was awful. The medication you get should knock it out if it is an infection, or stronger ones if it doesn't work.
