labor

So it seems like everyone I talk to or I read that everyone is scared of giving birth. I feel ready and anxious for the whole process just because I know that it will all be worth it in the end. I haven't taken any classes because I feel as if birth is a natural thing and it can't be taught in some class because of birth being such an unexpected thing. I guess im just posting to see if any other of you ladies are thinking the same way and ready for the birthing process. Do you guys want to attempt without an epidural or get it right away? What fears do you have about it all?

Lol dang! And thats why I didn't want to take a birthing class as much as my midwife preached to me about it. A friend of mine said she took one and when the time came she didn't remember a single thing from the class. She said but she knew exactly what to do though and no class prepared her for what she went through. Rambo makes me laugh though I must say :-p

I went to a birthing class...
and you know what I used from it in actual labor?? Nothing. Lol the hospital I uses gave me an epidural catheter as soon as I got there foe my induction....so I watched the machines show MONSTER contractions while I felt nothing at all. I watched a documentary about a 15 lb newborn during my labor haha. Of course, it all sounds like cupcakes and roses ....until my uterus fell to one side and I was on all fours being manually dilated by a nurse I called Rambo. Oh.....that awesome epidural catheter I loved so much??? Ran out just before pushing....  :| this time I play to wait for pain meds haha

I'm bouncing on that birthing ball daily, I'm walking like crazy, and I hate to admit but I just searched online on how to go about nipple stimulation! I'm trying everything that's safe to get my cervix motivated. If I become overdue I plan on buying a ton of pineapple!

What are some methods/things you want to try to get labor progressing? I know I want to try lots of walking, birthing ball, and taking a shower/jet tub.

It was painful, I think they try to cut during a contraction but I definitely noticed it, and you start bleeding from it, then after baby is born they stitch you up with out any meds. Luckily I was to focused on my babies to notice to much if it!

I am ready for labor. I too don't believe that birth is something that can be taught. As for the epidural, I am going to try to go natural and not get the epidural but have it on stand by just in case.

I was thinking about a water birth but keep forgetting to look up info about it so I doubt I will end up getting one.

Yeahh the only thing im nervous about is tearing but that's about the only thing. I want to go as natural as possible. Woman have been doing it for centuries so I see it as why can't I but im not going to be upset if it doesn't go that way either. Im pretty excited to figure out my pain tolerance.

Babyinjuly .. just curious how was an episiotomy with no epidural?

This is my first baby , and I used to be  a nanny to a midwife so I believe that doing it all natural is the only way to go and that it's sooo much better for your body and for the baby... I am still super nervous though about it and am slightly afraid but hopefully everything will go well since our bodies are designed for this :)

I'm more then ready for labor, I'm due in 3 days but suspect he won't arrive then. I've gone natural with all my babies, so no epidural here! I'm terrified of needles, BUT I've had episiotomies for three of my four but I'm going to refuse this time cuz I hate them! The cut, the noise, every thing about it!! Tearing a lil won't bother me as much!! And it is all worth it in the end, I just hate when I'm pushing he's crowning and they have to say 'just get past the burning sensation' that ruins it cuz it scares me!! Any day now HOPEFULLY!!

I guess I should add my labor ended in an emergency c section, and I'm now looking at my third c section next month. I get nervous about recovery as I've never had a smooth recovery.

I believe the same as you! Its a natural process, and its supposed to stay that way. I do not want medicine of any sort, and I want to have a natural vaginal birth, I'm hoping its possible. The nervousness is normal, and completely expected! I think so, at least. If you're not at least a little nervous, something is wrong Lol. I hope I can keep to my 'no medicine, all natural' decision:)

With my first I didn't take any classes. I didn't see the point. I figured I would figure it out or someone would help. Haha. I had an epidural after about 6 hours of labor, I was 1cm. LOL. I don't think I had any fears that I recall with my first. I mean besides becoming a mom, how I was going to care for a baby, and stuff like that. Nothing labor related though.
