military families

I heard a rumor that when I have the baby my husband will have 2 weeks off to be with me and the baby. Does anyone know if that's true? And it is true, does it count against his leave days? Thanks!

Thank you everyone :) very helpful. He is not deployed so it makes me feel a lot better he will be off. We live 12 hours from ours families and this is our first so it's a little nerve racking. We are at Ft. Campbell

Its 10 days of paternity leave. That doesn't count against their regular leave days.

Agreed with libellula. My husband was in the marines and got 10 days paternity leave and it didnt count against his original leave. Now once he signed out the weekends were included in those 10 days even though he didnt work because they are always on call.  So its not fully 2 weeks since they count weekends.

I dont know about where your at but his shop had meals made for us for 2 days and when baby was born we could pick which 2 days we wanted them to bring us food. That included lunch and dinner. It was very nice.

I work for the air force. He should get 10 paternity days which he can take anytime within one year of the birth. They do not count against his normal leave, it is additional. If he is  deployed, he will most likely have to wait to take it until he gets back. All depends on his orders. Good luck!

My friend was in korea for the army and his grandfather passed away so he had to file for emergency leave. He got two days for the funeral. But it counted on his actual leave. So im guessing it depends on the situation on if you can

I have a friend who's husband was deployed to Afghanistan,  & she had twin daughters. He was not able to be there when they were born, but he came home 2 weeks later. & he did stay for 2 weeks. But while he was deployed,  he had 2 weeks of R&R, & yes, his time home counted as that.
