miscarriage Incomplete

I,

I am just wondering  i have just had a miscarriage at 6 weeks + the doctor told me my cervixs was closed but when i got an ultra sound they still found some 'material' attached to my uterus.  4mm so the doctor said it should pass naturally.

I am still bleeding but what i don't understand is i've been reading that once the miscarriage is complete the cervixs closes...so does that mean i will need to get a D&C ... or does it mean that my body is still able to flush out the material.

I'm sorry if this causes distress to some people - having a miscarriage is an awful experience .... this was my first baby ... and i was so excited...now i have to deal with all this!

Thanks Kindly for your response.

Sorry for your loss. The information is new to me I too had a miscarriage at 6 weeks but the doctor said it happened probably because something was wrong with the fetus and the body aborted the baby. I have never heard of the closed cervix. What i do know is that the body will flush out. I drank a lot of water and detoxed as well just to help me. This might soon weird but if I felt full still after the pregnancy ended but after i detoxed i felt better.

thanks madison....

im sorry also  for your loss too - it's so strange that this happens, and whilst im sure that it's for the 'right' reason it's still hard then you have to go through the after part as well such as this .... funny though i am also detoxing.

I hope it will flush out ... i guess i just have to wait it out x

my first m/c passed naturally but my cervix was open and I was given an injection to make sure everything came out. I'm not sure but I thought that when ur baby dies and the vervix remains closed thats when u get a d&c at least thats what happened to my sister in law.

Sorry for ur loss I to just had surgery on tues for an ectopic pregnancy.

My hormones dropped the other day, and u/s showed a 7w sac & 6w fetus. I should be a little over 10 weeks. I had an u/s (2) weeks ago that showed a 6w fetus. Dr. says to come back in one week. After everything I have read, with the drop in hormones, no fetal growth since (6) weeks, and no heartbeat I am almost sure I am going to miscarry. How long do the hormones take to decrease before you start bleeding? I think the baby stopped developing over 2 weeks ago.  I am starting to have cramps that feel like I am ready to start my period as well as lower back pain. How long did it take you guys to miscarry naturally?

I have heard somthing similar,i think when we mc the cervix should stay open,so i thought,if it closes, and there is trace of products still there, they may need to give you an injection,to dispell the rest or possibly a d+c if you havent passed in next few days i would ask for somthing to be done,

hey gloke,

my hormones didn't go down at all, in fact my hCG leves went up a little bit - who knows .... although i was really early in my pregnancy = i had had a really progressive u/s 5 days before i miscarried - the doctor saw a heart beat and everything - so yeah i guess everyone is different...and again i'm sorry for your loss as well - it's really not easy having a miscarriage ... even though it's natural and so many of us go through it sometimes.... i just hope when i go back to the doctors my hCG levels are going down ... otherwise i suppose i will need a D & C - and i'm really not wanting one of them ... does anyone know if it's certain that the uterus will flush out left over material?

hey tarajanes.... i just read your comment - can you get an injection?

what is it = i hadn't heard of this - that sounds more friendly than a D&C ... escepially considering i was only 6 weeks

Hey girl.the uterus will flush out left over material, but can take time.it depends how you feel,if you cant handle it,maybe request a d+c,yes it is a horrible experience, isnt it strange how your level go up.i understand you not wanting a d+c but you dont want to have any material left for to long,in case of infection,i feel for you girl all the best, keep your chin up..

Thanks so much Tarajanes, it's so nice to know that other woman are here going through or have gone through a similar experience- makes you feel less alone, even though you have family and a loving partner around you - it's still a lonely experience.

but thanks for the advice ... i think i'll try and do it naturally for a bit anyway it hasn't been long .... I hope everything is/goes well with you for any future pregnancies!!!

I would wait and do another blood test and u/s.But if you do need a d&c I hear it helps for your next pregnancy to inplant better. You don't want to take a chance and leave anything behind in ur uterus it could cause another m/c.The shot is called methotrexate....I  think I spelled that wrong.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

So sorry for your loss but i too went through the same thing last year. I was miscarrying but I was bleeding heavily for 2.5 weeks straight and my HCG was hovering at 60 and wouldnt go down. I still went to work but was very weak from all the bleeding. In the end i think everyone just felt that i had been through enough and landed up giving me a D&C. I wish you all the very best and send you many hugs.
