Hello,
We miscarried on Oct 26, now over a month later I've taken two at home pregnacy test with positive results. Is this left over hormone from the previous baby or are we expecting?

You probably are because over a month later even if you still had hormones left over from your miscarriage there probably wouldn't be enough to test positive.  I would go see a doctor just to see what they say but I'd put my money on you being pregnant.  Good luck.

i used the wrong wording in my first post. sorry. it can be from the first day to 4 weeks later. all depends on your ovulation day. and how high your levels were. but there is a good chance you are pregnant, your miscarriage was sometime ago and it is very common for woman who have a miscarriage and an abortion to a month or so later find out they are pregnant again. call your doctor and good luck!

How long yu test positive after a miscarriage also depends on how far along yu were...I miscarried at 11wks and tested positive for 3 wks after so obviously the hormones aren't gone that day...

My doctor said the hormones can stay in your systemfor a while after having a miscarriage and said it depends on the woman. When I got pregnant right after my miscarriage she made me get an ultrasound to make sure my positive home test was not just from hormones left over after my miscarriage.

But you said "the hormones are out of your system the day you lose the baby" when I personally know from first hand experience that that is not true. It may be for some people if the pregnancy was extremely early, but for others it can take weeks to completely rid the hormones out of your system. I'm not trying to argue, but you told the girl that she's pregnant and I just don't want her to get her hopes up if she's not.

im a maternity nursing student who graduates this year. my mother in law is a maternity nurse. and my father in law is an OB doctor. Your pregnancy hormones do not stay in your system for very long after you have had a miscarriage, a day or two and they are low enough that they will NOT show up on a home pregnancy test. her miscarriage was over a month ago, it all depends on her cycle, and how soon she ovulated after her miscariage. i have had 3 and my last one was  july 6th of this year. i am currently 21 weeks pregnant and took a test on july 29th which came back positive for my son i am due in april.

The hormones are NOT out of your system the day you lose your baby. Although they do decrease daily, it still takes some time to get the hormones out. The only way to be certain at this point is to get a quantitative blood test at your OB's office, and that will indicate if your hcg levels are indeed dropping, or rising.
