moms that have had Cholestasis with a previous pregnancy?

When I was around 35 weeks pregnant with my son I was diagnosed with ICP(cholestasis). I got tested because I had really severe itching. This time around my doctors sent me to get tested since its likely to reoccur in future pregnancies. I'm 29 weeks and got a call from my doctors office saying that everything came back normal and I don't have it. I'm so happy that I get to go through this pregnancy without complications but I also don't want to get too excited without knowing all the facts. I was just wondering if any of you moms that had it with previous pregnancies tested negative around 28 or 29 weeks without any symptoms but still developed it later in pregnancy. Or vice versa. I really want it to be normal this time! Hopefully it stays this way. Thanks in advance

My doctor FINALLY sent me to a specialist, someone a bit familiar with this disease. I am now on Ursodial and hydroxyzine and will possibly be admitted to hospital dec 29th if my LFT and bile acids don't lower in the next week.

Yea @emilydelaney I had it with my first and was given medication. I was lucky enough to not have to be in the hospital the whole time. Im just curious if I'll develop it this pregnancy too even though I just got tested yesterday and it was clear. I don't have any symptoms and read somewhere that it sometimes taken weeks after having symptoms for the test to show up positive.. Hopefully I stay negative for it

Ladies I was given piraton which is an antihistamine and vitamin k and some other thing and they brought down the bile.. I was stuck inside the hospital for a month before s had the baby with it... The doctor should be giving ye something! Also cold shows work or even putting something cold on the parts that are itching :)

I just made 36 weeks but I've been itching for a couple weeks now. I don't itch too much during the day it's bearable. It kinda keeps me up at night but I was assuming it was just my skin bc hot water and my clothes make me itch too @juno92

@kaykaywill13 my obly symptom was extreme itching which was there through out the day and got even worse at night. It was all over nt body but the worse on my hands and feet. How far along are you? It usually develops in the 3rd trimester but could happen sooner in rare cases. If your itching is unbearable and nothing helps I would run it by your doctor just to be safe. They can get blood work done to make sure your bile acid levels aren't elevated. Its worth looking in to because the risks involve giving birth to a stilborn if you go til the end of pregnancy (40weeks)

Yea @angckk my doctor never fully went over the medication with me. She just prescribed it. But I researched it just recently and although not surely 100% safe it was better than the alternative which was steroids( in my opinion) its supposed to reduce the bile acid passing to the baby. In my case it all turned out fine.my son is now 10 months and 100% healthy!

I have been itching pretty bad. Should I be tested for that? How do you know if it is that or just itching because you are pregnant?

My doctor refuses to give me anything, he said there's nothing g entirely safe for babes. Yes I made him promise it'll go away after she's out!!! My legs are so scarred up as well :( I can't wait for this to be over! And I'll forever be terrified of pregnancy again!!

Ah I'm so sorry :( itching was the worse! I still have scars on my feet from all the scratching the only thing that helped was baths and showers. Any lotion or cream just irritated my skin more. Do they have you on medication? They had me taking some urso(something) pill 3 times a day when I was diagnosed. It kinda helped a little but I didn't get better til after I gave birth... Good luck! Hope it gets better for you.

OH MY WORD. I am going absolutely mental from the itching. I am 32 weeks and been suffering for 5 weeks with it. I was diagnosed with abdominal liver foundation due to high estrogen levels. My kidneys are also very swollen. I'm having regular blood work as well as ultrasounds. It's honestly the worst. 2 or 3 oatmeal baths a day... Trying to remain sane... It's not easy,
